Feeling a bit nervous about your upcoming online interview? That’s completely normal - and we’re here to help. This guide is designed to make sure you feel confident, comfortable and fully prepared for your virtual meeting. Let’s get started!

Your guide to in-person interviews at Bank of Ireland

We know you might be nervous about going to an interview, but don’t worry - we’re here to make the experience as easy as possible. This step-by-step guide covers everything you need to know for the day, from planning your journey to what happens once you arrive. You’ll find practical tips, helpful reminders, and ways to let us know if you need any extra support. Let’s walk through it together!

Getting to your interview

Heading to one of our buildings for your interview? It might take place at Baggot Plaza - one of our main admin hubs in Dublin. The building has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, and if you need any specific supports on the day, you can let us know by filling out this form.

Top tips: Use Google Maps to plan your route and check for traffic ahead of time. Try to arrive about 10 minutes early so you’re not rushed.

Arriving at reception

When you arrive, check in at the reception desk next to the turnstiles - our team will help you sign in as a visitor. Someone from the hiring team will meet you and bring you to the interview room.

Top tip: Not sure what to wear? Ask your recruiter about the dress code. Most importantly, we want you to feel confident and comfortable.

Walking through the building

Your interviewer will stay with you while you walk through the building. If you need a quick break or some water, just let us know - we’re happy to help. All our interviewers are trained in Inclusive Hiring, and we want you to feel your best throughout the process.

The interview room

Here’s one of our meeting rooms at Baggot Plaza - your interview could take place here! We aim to create a welcoming space with a balanced panel for every candidate.

After your interview

After your interview, a member of our recruitment team will be in touch within a few days to share feedback and next steps.

Acknowledge your achievements: Take some time to make a list of all of your strengths and accomplishments. Recognizing your success and abilities can help with rebuilding your confidence.
Share the burden: Don’t be afraid to reach out to friends, family, or colleagues for support. You may find that you are not alone in these feelings!
Celebrate your wins: We often attribute success to others, or to plain good luck. Take a moment to praise yourself when things go well!
Keep growing and learning: Focus on opportunities for growth instead of your shortcomings. Embrace new challenges to expand your skills and knowledge.
Don’t sell yourself short: Apply for jobs even if don’t meet every single requirement. Many employers value the potential and willingness to learn, so take the leap and showcase your strengths!

Signing up to Job Alerts is the best way to keep to date with new vacancies advertised across Bank of Ireland Group – and signing up is easy.

All it takes is a couple of clicks, and Job Alerts will then issue, matching your preferences, directly to your email.

How to sign up

Sign up when applying for an existing job

When you are applying for a role that you have seen advertised already, you can choose to be alerted about similar roles that are advertised in the future. The system will use the details of the role (Location, division etc.) to set up a new Job Alert automatically for you.

Complete one of the Job Alert forms found on the vacancy site

Across pages on our careers website, you will see Job Alert forms. Simply choose what you wish to be notified about from the drop down fields - your name and email will already be populated. Keep in mind, you do not need to select an item from each line.

Managing your Job Alerts

To view your current Job Alert subscriptions, you just need to go to your settings.

From here you can see what alerts you have set up, and delete any that are no longer relevant to you.

Note: You can have multiple alerts set up - all alerts are collated in one email, that issues on the morning of any day where new roles match your criteria.

You will only receive a maximum of one Job Alert email per day.

Starting an application for a Graduate Programme can feel overwhelming. But don't worry, we’re here to help. At Bank of Ireland, we're committed to keeping our process as clear and supportive as possible! You can always reach out to our Graduate Recruitment team if you have still questions.

Here’s what to expect:

The Four Key Stages

Application: Complete a quick online form on the Graduate website. You’ll need to upload your CV, which will helps us match you to the right programme stream!

Tips: Proofread your application carefully and make sure your CV is up-to-date. If you need an alternative way to apply, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate
Online Assessment: Next, you’ll complete online assessments that measure verbal and numerical reasoning, as well as alignment with our company values. We’ll send you all the details by email, including instructions, your login link, and a chance to do a practice run.

Tips: Find a quiet space, check your internet connection, and use the practice tests to build confidence!
Assessment Centre: This is the final stage, a group event where you’ll take part in activities and interviews with managers and colleagues from Bank of Ireland.

Tips: Be yourseld and engage with those around you! Don't be afraid to speak up when you have ideas or examples to share.
Offer: If successful, you’ll receive an offer detailing which programme stream you’ve been matched to. While you can indicate your preferences during the application, suitability is assessed throughout the process, and we may suggest an alternative programme that fits your strengths.

Updating your CV can feel intimidating, and it might be temping to just stick with the version you already have. But taking the time to craft a CV that highlights your strengths is a crucial step in your job search. A compelling CV will grab the attention of recruiters or hiring managers and clearly communicate your value. Here’s how to write a great CV!

Tailor your CV to the role

Align your CV with the job description to improve your chances of success. Pay attention to keywords in the job ad and incorporate them where relevant, this can help recruiters match you to the role. Highlight key skills that meet the position’s requirements, and update your personal statement to clearly show why you’re the right fit.

Engaging language

Use varied, impactful language to keep your CV engaging. Avoid repeating the same words and choose strong action verbs. For example, instead of “Answered customer queries and managed customer relationships,” try “Exceeded customer expectations by delivering exceptional service and resolving issues effectively.”

Instead of just listing responsibilties, try to demonstrate your impact in previous roles. For example, you could include measurable results (e.g., “Achieved 120% of sales targets”) or highlight any relevant achievements or awards. Keep examples specific and concise - long or vague descriptions can cause readers to lose interest.

Appearance & Formatting

Choose a clear, professional format and keep it consistent throughout the document.
List your education and work experience in chronological order.
Stick to a word doc for universal readability.
Use a simple layout & use standard headings (e.g., Experience, Education, Skills).
Choose a readable font like Calibri or Arial and avoid making the text too small.
Use bullet points to break up text and make key points easier to read.
Keep it to two pages max.
