Group Internal Audit

I am Aishling Bradwell and as an Audit Director I am responsible for providing independent assurance in the areas of Group Compliance and the NFR Function in Group Risk.

In pre pandemic time we were an agile team, predominately based in Dublin or often located within the team / area we were auditing. However, times have changed and we now work remotely with a hybrid working model, and hot desking available in many of our buildings.

The flexibility is great! It means I have the option to work from the office or at home. While I miss seeing people face to face when I’m working from home, I don’t miss having the daily commute and there is less of a queue for coffee!

We implemented a number of agile techniques in GIA and these have been really helpful when my team is working across different locations. As I oversee multiple audits at any one time, I find the agile ceremonies in particular the daily stand up a great way to stay connected and support the team removing blockers and obstacles that arise.  Depending on the audit assignment we also use virtual Kanban boards.

I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), have a Professional Diploma in Compliance (ACOI), a Professional Certificate in Conduct Risk, Culture and Operational Risk Management and most recently a Professional Certificate in People Management. I am very lucky that GIA has been so supportive of me continuing my studies.

The best thing about my job is that no two days are the same.  I am the Gender Balance Representative for GIA and I really enjoy being involved in all the initiatives taking place.  GIA has launched a new three year strategy with the aim of helping more colleagues, customers and communities to thrive by tapping technology, thinking differently and adding value.

It’s an exciting time to be in GIA as all teams are involved in some aspect of bringing this strategy to life.
