Graduate Programme 2020

Group Risk leads the processes by which the Group determines our Risk capacity, establishes our Risk appetite and oversees Risk taking, within appetite, across all Key Risks. Group Risk ensures there are frameworks in place to identify, assess, measure and monitor risks against established limits.

Group Risk develops the Risk appetite which acts as a boundary consideration to our business strategy and supports an appropriate risk culture in pursuit of our business objectives. It deploys and maintains risk frameworks, policies, controls, methodologies and standards. It provides 'second line defence' challenge within business decision processes employing domain expertise and technical models. Group Risk is an independent central function within the Group.

The people in Group Risk are not just bankers; we’re also statisticians, mathematicians, engineers, data scientists, accountants, economists, negotiators and real estate experts.

The rotations help you to quickly expand your network. I have been exposed to different areas of the Bank through my rotations. Throughout my first rotation, I gained great insights into Global Markets which I found really interesting. I’m now in a completely different area, doing reporting and analysis on the Bank’s mortgage books. These experiences have given me a much better idea of which area I want to work in when I finish the Graduate Programme.
