Description of business unit

Working within the Central Team of a key programme in Bank of Ireland UK to deliver continuous improvements to customer outcomes, and foster a culture of customer obsession.

Purpose of the Role

  • The role will involve a number of diverse responsibilities including supporting programme governance alongside other ad hoc analysis that the programme requires.
  • You will bring energy and best in class project execution disciplines and standards to the Central Programme Team to ensure effective delivery of this wide ranging customer programme.

What is the opportunity?

The successful candidate will join a new dynamic and professional team, working with a wide range of partners across the Bank. The role, as PMO in the Central Workstream will include supporting the Project Manager and Senior Management to:

  • Develop and execute the implementation plan including tracking and reporting on progress
  • Setting up PMO processes and standard; leading quality, programme risk, reporting, governance schedule, finances and resourcing
  • Contribute to the creation of high quality programme collateral for Senior Partner engagement including UK Customer Board and UK PLC Board Risk Committee

Key Accountabilities

  • Supporting oversight and reporting of all programme workstream activity, working with Workstream Leads to ensure milestones, RAIDs and overall progress is efficiently and clearly tracked and messaged to the appropriate audience.
  • Ensure the excellence of the PMO function; setting standards, document library and ensuring compliance with organisational standards
  • Support issue identification and resolution, initiating corrective action as appropriate and referring major issues upwards to the Central Programme Lead where required.
  • Collaborate with partners and wider team, collate and distribute regular communication, reporting packs and updates as per project cadence
  • Provide support in facilitating meetings and workshops including documenting agendas, minutes and actions for meetings and ensure appropriate follow up
  • Provide support in understanding costs and forecasts to lead the overall programme finances
  • Undertake specific pieces of analysis to understand opportunities for delivery of improved customer outcomes making recommendations to the programme Leadership.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previously set up and led a successful PMO (3+ years experience)
  • A track record of ensuring project governance is fit for purpose
  • Experience of working in close collaboration with key partners to deliver to project budgets, timelines and scope
  • Strong desire to make a real difference for customers
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work with a wide variety of partners simultaneously, including senior executives
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and complex environment with an excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to write succinct business executive summary documents (MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
