Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking (CB), part of the Corporate & Treasury Division, is the no. 1 Corporate Bank in Ireland. We manage complex and diverse financial needs of major domestic and global companies.

The Business Assurance team is part of the 1st line of defence in mitigating Corporate Banking`s regulatory, reputational and operation risk across our business jurisdictions (Dublin, London, Belfast, Frankfurt & Paris).

It manages the Business Controls Framework within the business including management of the framework to assess, review and monitor business processes, controls and adherence to both Group Policy and all regulatory and legislative requirements ensuring Corporate Banking is fully compliant at all times.

The Business Assurance team ensures that all regulations and policies rolled out by Group Compliance & Regulatory Risk and Group Operation Risk are fully implemented within the business and the Business Assurance Official will play a key role in ensuring these policies are rolled out.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining Corporate Banking compliance with regulation and Group policy.
  • Managing processes related to the mitigation of regulatory and operational risks in Corporate Banking.
  • Manage daily / other regulatory requests in relation to Anti Money Laundering, Financial Sanctions, Data Protection and other relevant regulations.
  • Build and manage stakeholder relationships across Corporate Banking and with the wider Bank of Ireland Group, in particular 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defence (LOD).
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of Corporate Banking business as part of the mitigation of key risks.
  • Maintaining the Business Control Framework (BCF) and ensuring effective controls have been implemented, relevant remediation/action plans are in place/completed on time.
  • Provide appropriate training to the business on relevant topics.
  • Ensuring all CB jurisdictions have an adequate Business Continuity Management (BCM) structure in place and they are aware of their requirements, roles and responsibilities in order to be compliant with BOI Group policies and standards.
  • Prepare relevant pack for senior management regarding all required returns including - High Risk Register, TOP 10 Risk register, reportable events.
  • Assist in any ad hoc requests/ special business projects as they arise.

Essential qualifications

  • Professional Certificate/Diploma in Compliance and/ Risk through The Association of Compliance officers in Ireland or Institute of Bankers or Third Level qualification in a legal, finance or business discipline.

Essential Key requirements

  • Proven experience in an Operational Risk, Compliance and Regulatory Risk or Auditing role.
  • Ability to think and act independently where required, adapt priorities and exercise flexibility.
  • Ability to engage and manage relationships and demonstrate sound communication, negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to motivate, develop and influence others.
  • Ability to meet challenging objectives while working well under pressure.
  • Sound knowledge & understanding of operational risk requirements & best practice.
  • Ability to understand & interpret regulation, and Group Policy and standards.
  • A meticulous approach to work - ability to work in accordance with defined procedures and controls.
