Relationship Manager who adds value to existing and prospective Mid-Market Business customers (Turnover > €4m or Lending > €500k or Credit balances > €650k or Deposits > €1.5m) with TGE up to €2m, through relationship management, business development and sales activities to existing and prospective Mid-Market customers. The Business Relationship Manager will take a structured approach to strategic target markets, heavily supported by sectoral experts using a consultancy or "trusted adviser" approach to this key customer segment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create value within the Business Banking pod by achieving agreed business and customer objectives.
  • Provide Leadership to and develop the Business Relationship Manager team and supports in the pod structure (small team of professionals)
  • Develop a good quality lending book founded on well researched and high quality lending assessments and applications.
  • Implement a credit management structure across a portfolio of key lending relationships which is capable of identifying, at an early stage, (i) key new lending opportunities, (ii) key new emerging risks as they arise while (iii) also ensuring credit quality is appropriately monitored and controlled.
  • Ensure that a professional business relationship is established
  • Work with Regional Business Manager to ensure implementation of the Business Banking strategy for the region.
  • Personally manage a portfolio of 40-70 Mid-Market customers.
  • Accountable for end-to-end value creation (growth, profitability and risk) from client portfolio subject to meeting risk policy requirements and financial/hurdles.
  • Build strong relationships with Branch Managers in the area and work closely as BOI ambassadors in the region, connecting with the community and leading the business development agenda.
  • Build enduring customer relationships through added value dialogue on customer relative performance to sector and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maximise income for BOI through completion of full needs analysis with customer base and by effectively selling BB products and generating referrals.
  • Substantially grow customer base through external focus and disciplined approach to target clients and intermediaries.
  • Responsible for delivery of Asset Finance and Commercial Finance targets for Business Banking
  • Work effectively with sector analysts, local Distribution team, and BOI group representatives to deliver superior growth.

Essential Qualifications:

  • MCC Requirements apply to this role. QFA is the required qualification.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Sound business acumen and understanding of SME businesses and key sectors
  • 5+ years Business or Commercial banking experience, with a proven strong track record in delivering commercial success from business development, effective needs analysis, sales delivery, risk management activities and building enduring business relationships.
  • A 3rd level qualification in Commerce/Finance or an appropriate professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, AITI, MBA).
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with a proven ability to develop networks and relationships across BOI Group and in the local business community.
  • A commitment to using emerging technologies to develop and service prospective and existing customers.
  • Strong credit skills and deep experience in extending credit and deal structuring with proven ability to balance risk and returns when making credit application recommendations.
  • Thorough understanding of credit risks & business risks across sectors.
  • Comply with all regulatory codes including adhering to the prescribed process and procedures e.g. GCR/GIA requirements, BLC/ CCMA etc. Complete all mandatory compliance training e.g. AML / Code of Conduct, and operate at all times within the Bank`s code of conduct.
