Description of business unit

Business Banking is part of Retail Ireland within Bank of Ireland Group. The Business Banking team is responsible for the growth and management of the lending portfolio for Business Customers.

Purpose of the Role

The Business Relationship Manager will take a structured approach to strategic target markets, heavily supported by sectoral experts using a consultancy or "trusted adviser" approach to this key customer segment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage a portfolio of c. 60-90 Mid-Market customers
  • Accountable for end-to-end value creation (growth, profitability and risk) from client portfolio subject to meeting risk policy requirements and financial /hurdles.
  • Work with the Senior Relationship Manager to ensure implementation of the Business Banking strategy and deputising for the Senior Relationship Manager as required.
  • Build enduring customer relationships through added value dialogue on customer relative performance to sector and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maximise income for BOI by completion of full needs analysis with customer base and effectively selling BB products and generating referrals.
  • Safely extend credit and manage risk through sophisticated credit and business risk assessment.
  • Grow customer base through external focus and disciplined approach to target clients and intermediaries.
  • Responsible for delivery of Asset Finance and Commercial Finance targets for Business Banking.
  • Work effectively with sector analysts, local Distribution team and BOI group representatives to deliver superior growth.

What is the Opportunity?

The Business Relationship Manager will assist in leading the Business Banking proposition in the region to develop and nurture relationships with key Business Banking Clients, Influencers and Intermediaries in the location. Working closely with the Community Enterprise Lead, to bring the Business Banking strategy to the network and support the development of talent within the region.

This position is based in South County Dublin

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 passes (minimum Grade D) in Ordinary Level Leaving Certificate subjects, including Maths and English, or equivalent or superseding qualification.
  • MCC Requirements apply to this role. QFA is the required qualification.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Sound business acumen and understanding of SME businesses and key sectors
  • 5+ years Business or Commercial banking experience, with a proven strong track record in delivering commercial success from business development, effective needs analysis, sales delivery, risk management activities and building enduring business relationships.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with a proven ability to develop networks and relationships across BOI Group and in the local business community.
  • A commitment to using emerging technologies to develop and service prospective and existing customers.
  • Strong credit skills and deep experience in extending credit and deal structuring with proven ability to balance risk and returns when making credit application recommendations.
  • Thorough understanding of credit risks & business risks across sectors.
  • Comply with all regulatory codes including adhering to the prescribed process and procedures e.g. GCR/GIA requirements, BLC/ CCMA etc. Complete all mandatory compliance training e.g. AML / Code of Conduct, and operate at all times within the Bank's code of conduct.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Proficiency with business banking reporting and credit risk systems.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A 3rdlevel qualification in Commerce/Finance or an appropriate professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, AITI, MBA).
