Description of business unit

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions division provides Technology Services & Solutions, IT Change, Payments and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners.

Purpose of the Role

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions division provides IT Run & Change, Payments and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners.

Reporting directly to the head of Strategy & Transformation, the COO Business Manager will play a vital role in the operational management of the division, and support the COO agenda through a wide range of activities including strategic planning, project management, reporting and governance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide direct support to the Group COO; plan & direct activities; prepare COO for internal/external meetings; act as a point of contact for COO and other stakeholders.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, including outside parties, to undertake analyses and present findings to COO and Group Executive Committee.
  • Drive the operating rhythm of the GTCS leadership team; through facilitation and chairing of GTCS leadership meeting calendar
  • Effectively plan and project manage critical asks of/by the COO to ensure timely delivery of high quality outputs.
  • Lead and contribute to business analysis, problem statement articulation and approach definition for special projects as identified by the Group COO.
  • Assist with the implementation of strategic initiatives/priorities.
  • Co-ordinate & facilitate all governance and reporting (including but not limited to Leadership team meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews, and CEO updates)
  • Plays a key role in the planning and co-ordination of Group COO and GTCS events.

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years related planning, strategy or operations experience in a similar internal role or management/strategy consulting role.
  • Strong project and process management skills; results focused, with high levels of energy, ability to work autonomously and manage a wide variety of initiatives simultaneously & under deadline.
  • Ability to influence and build relationships in a heavily networked environment, at levels varying from mid-management, head of business, up to the C-suite.
  • A confident self-starter who can operate with minimal direction, and be proactive and flexible.
  • Able to tackle unstructured/undefined problems and create/apply strategic frameworks and models to solve and provide insights.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop at an accelerated rate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting high priority messages to COO, Group Executive Committee, etc.
  • Advanced MS Office skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
