This is a significant opportunity to take on a critical and high profile role within the Bank of Ireland (BOI). You will have the opportunity to influence and shape the Valuation Services function for UK Mortgages, including valuation panel, policy and introduction of new technologies and valuation techniques. You will be seen as a key SME, providing support to Senior Management and the Executive team.

The role sits within the Retail Credit Risk (RCR) team and is part of the UK Risk function. The team is responsible for ensuring correct credit risk decisions are made within the mortgage and consumer finance portfolios (mortgages, credit cards, personal loans, overdrafts).

Key responsibilities

  • Determine, communicate and enforce prudent lending principles with regard to residential property.
  • Authority to appoint/remove valuers from the valuation panel.
  • Audit quality of work by external valuers.
  • Management of all complaints related to valuations.
  • Manage the internal valuation instruction system.
  • Manage the relationship with external valuation instruction platforms including selection and appointment.
  • Represent BOI to external bodies including membership of the CMLValuers Panel, National Surveyors Forum and Valuer & Lender Liaison Group.
  • Undertake liaison with RICS, surveyor`s professional body, as appropriate.
  • Maximise income from Loss mitigation processes with Possession Management.
  • Co-ordinate loss recovery action against valuers with externally appointed solicitor.
  • Manage day to day and strategic relationships with external providers of the Valuation Instruction Platform and AVM Supplier.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • RICS Qualified Chartered Surveyor with significant industry experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the UK housing industry, historically and at present.
  • Experience of managing residential property risks and panels of surveyors.
  • Experience in implementing new best practice and Automated Valuation Model type solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Sound knowledge of relevant market trends
  • Experience of managing teams and developing talent.
