The successful candidate will be an important member of the Risk Claims team, which is responsible for the assessment and payment Income Protection Claims from the Company's Protection portfolio of Group and Individual business.

Purpose of the Role

To assess and decide the outcome of new Income Protection Claims and also to manageongoing claimsin payment to ensure they still meet the criteria for payment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assess both the financial and medical requirements of new claims
  • Decide the outcome of a customer's claim when requirements have been obtained
  • Processing payments within authorisation limits for all 3 distribution channels.
  • Regularly updating customers by telephone and in writing on the progress of their claim
  • Ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory compliance.
  • The Updating of all claims databases and systems
  • Support Team and Manager on new initiatives as necessary

Essential Qualifications

Twoyears Life Assurance experienceplus a qualification in at least one of one of QFA, DLDU or DLDC.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Good organisational skills with good interpersonal skills and the ability to be a Team Player.
  • Excellent numerical skills and aptitude for detailed work, ability to learn core life and workflow systems.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Very good customer relations experience.
  • Have experience in the assessment of Protection Claims
  • Qualification or progress towards qualification in Claims Diploma (DLDC ) or Underwriting Diploma (DLDU)

Desirable

  • To have completedthe Claims(DLDC) or Underwriting Diploma (DLDU)
  • Awareness of Public sector pay and conditions
  • Experience of dealing face to face or over the phone with customers
  • A good knowledge of the Regulatory environment
