Division Description

Led by the recently appointed Chief Marketing Officer, we are creating Group Marketing function which will develop a strong brand for Bank of Ireland, shaping and delivering a differentiated position for the Bank in the markets in which we operate. This will enable us to shape and deliver on our purpose to enable customers, colleagues and communities to thrive and to build the National Champion Bank in Ireland. The Group Marketing function will be underpinned by the following strategic imperatives designed to transform the Bank of Ireland brand:

Description of business unit

The Group Customer Analytics team sits within the Group Marketing function and supports our customers, colleagues and partners across Ireland, UK and Internationally.

In a changing market environment, where customer expectations continue to grow and there is an increasing demand for more personalised customer experiences, Customer Analytics is leading the charge to enable and deliver this personalised experience through data analytics and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Purpose of the Role

You will source and leverage internal and external data and apply data analytics, machine learning and visualisation techniques to maximise the value of this data and deliver positive outcomes for our customers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Use your engineering background to build robust datasets to support Insight Generation and Analytics.
  • Identify and acquire the relevant data to support the development of machine learning models for customer recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Data Analysts and Data Scientists to analyse raw data sources and data transformation requirements.
  • Design and develop code, scripts and data pipelines that leverage structured and unstructured data integrated from multiple sources.
  • Create the framework to run machine learning models at scale on Cloudera.
  • Coordinate projects and software testing with various teams including IT and the Group Data Office.
  • Drive projects end-to-end.
  • Extend the Bank's Customer Analytics Record (CAR) which is a foundational building block for analytics and predictive modelling.
  • Engage in code reviews.
  • Build the team's brand by presenting internally and externally and being active in the community of practice.
  • Devise, implement and follow team standards and processes.

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 8 Degree or MSc in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent field.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience working with Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server or Cloudera.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with an object oriented language (Python, Java or other)
  • 5+ years hands on experience as an ETL/DWH developer with strong knowledge in designing, developing and delivering end-to-end data integration processes for large scale data warehouses.
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture, design and business processes.
  • Certifications in Teradata or Cloudera an advantage.
  • Prior consulting experience an advantage.
  • A strong collaborator and relationship builder.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Determination to resolve blockages as they arise.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Agile development methodology.
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices.
  • Knowledge of cloud based data and analytics tools.
  • Business/banking industry domain knowledge.
  • Experience in Google Big Query
