Bank of Ireland Insurance Services (BIIS) currently distributes General Insurance products, including Home, Motor and Travel via the Branch Network, directly via the Call Centre and online. While maintaining recent growth trends, we aim to fundamentally change the way our business is distributed to favour Direct and particularly self-service Channels to support this objective.

Purpose of the Role

To drive, deliver and support the Head of Personal Lines in developing and executingsuccessful campaigns to new and existing customers, whilst always focusing on delivering value add to our customers. This requires a thorough knowledge of our products and of our competitor to support consistently achieving/exceeding monthly targets through sustainable business.

Key Accountabilities

  • Growing the personal lines segment of the banks insurance proposition.
  • Manage current and future campaign pipeline with all stakeholders internal and external.
  • Support managing the performance of all key lead metrics to ensure all financial targets are achieved
  • Support effective governance across the Bank & with our Insurance partners to ensure delivery of the plan.
  • Support sustainable growth through creating new business opportunities, maximising retention, and driving further initiatives including cross sell, up sell and other revenue streams.
  • Build on the capability that currently exists to ensure we have the required effective customer campaigns are in place for growth through all channels, including identifying where we can ensure the BOI Insurance Conversations is embedded with core Bank Product offerings.
  • Responsibility for creating robust processes, including engagement with key stakeholders for execution and delivery.
  • Proactively develop skills and market/business knowledge in applying exceptional effective customer engagement along with best practice techniques and tools to support targets across the functions, as required.
  • Supporting the development of detailed Insurance Growth plans with BOI Distribution & Product Teams.
  • Supporting BOI Insurance Transformation to successfully deliver the business benefits whilst enabling effective go to market and success of planned customer propositions.

What is the opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to join the Bank of Ireland Insurance Teamin our Transformation Journey, in year 1 of the implementation of our Insurance Partner and Digital Customer strategy. Our new propositions will be underpinned by leading edge technology, providing customers with a broadening choice of Consumer GI products, delivered by End to End Digital Sales and Servicing customer Journeys.

Our strategy will drive Growth through our Digital, Direct and Advisor channels significantly increasing our current product penetration across the Banks retail Ireland customer base by delivering market leading Digital First propositions. Working with our Insurance Providers, new Technology partners, BIIS colleagues and BOI teams (Marketing, Segment & Propositions, and Distribution teams), you will be a key leader in driving the Growth of our Consumer General Insurance business, across our target Bank of Ireland customer base of >1.5m consumers.

Essential Qualifications

  • Relevant professional qualification and non-life insurance experience, at minimum CIP.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in working in non-life insurance, preferable.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets. .
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics in Insurance
  • Strong relationship management experience.
  • Track record in supporting or managing teams in insurance operations and growth functions without a direct reporting line.
  • Ability to work with Business owners at all levels to deliver organisational objectives.
  • Understanding of Product Distribution, Partner Management, Customer Operations and IT/MI systems.


  • Proven ability to negotiate and influence all stakeholders and potentially prioritise the non-life growth agenda.
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines and deliver in line with agreed target plan.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • An ability to support the creation of campaigns that grab the attention of customers
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Marketing experience/ knowledge desirable.
  • Analytical skills and ability to support and understand our customer base and seeks opportunities for targeted sustainable growth.
  • Strong relationship building and management skills will be required to build strong personal relationships at various levels of management.
