Division Description

Led by the recently appointed Chief Marketing Officer, we are creating Group Marketing function which will develop a strong brand for Bank of Ireland, shaping and delivering a differentiated position for the Bank in the markets in which we operate. This will enable us to shape and deliver on our purpose to enable customers, colleagues and communities to thrive and to build the National Champion Bank in Ireland. The Group Marketing function will be underpinned by the following strategic imperatives designed to transform the Bank of Ireland brand: Customer planning across business under one group brand strategy and agreed brand pillar priorities, Deep brand & customer insight, Consistent & compelling customer communication across all touchpoints, Data driven marketing, Customer experience insight & innovation design, Integrated Technology transformation, Robust Marketing spend effectiveness & governance.

Description of business unit

The Customer Analytics team sits within the Group Marketing function and supports our customers and colleagues across Ireland, UK and Internationally. The Customer Analytics team is a growing area within the Bank of Ireland and is responsible for Commercial Insights, Modelling and Performance Analytics. The insatiable demand across the organisation to interrogate and analyse larger data sets to deliver deeper and richer customer insights ensures the Customer Analytics team is a key stakeholder in major decisions across the Bank. Also as customer expectations grow and there is an increasing demand for a personalised customer experience, Customer Analytics team is leading this initiative to enable and drive this personalised experience. This continued growth results in substantial opportunities for team members to grow and develop both their technical and non-technical skills to achieve their full potential within the Bank of Ireland.

Purpose of the Role

You will leverage one of the richest customer data sets in Ireland to create compelling, impactful and actionable insights for the Bank of Ireland. You will work with our key partners across the bank to understand their requirements, build out a data driven story and communicate the results to drive favourable business and customer impacts. This is an exciting time for you to join the Bank of Ireland as the importance of data and analytics continues to grow and the team expansion creates numerous opportunities for growth and development. You will be joining in a highly visible role which will have exposure to key senior stakeholders and business units.

Key Accountabilities

  • Solve business problems using data analysis and present back meaningful and actionable information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Translate business opportunities and challenges into Analytical problems and follow through to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to monetize our data within the relevant legal and regulatory boundaries.
  • Analyse customer journeys and identify areas for improvement that will deliver enhanced customer experience and commercial results.
  • Use your advanced analytics skills to join complicated datasets (structured, semi-structured and unstructured) and identify trends, correlations and patterns which will drive business change.
  • Understand our customers, their needs and behaviours and develop insights to enable our customers to thrive.
  • Be an advocate for high quality and impactful output throughout the Group.

Essential Qualifications

  • You will have a strong analytical background coupled with an ability to relate results to the business and form recommendations which add value.
  • You have experience in supporting the development of key strategic analytical insights and opportunities to drive commercial outcomes.
  • You will bring a passion for acquiring data and using data to improve the performance of the bank and the experience of our customers.
  • You will have exceptional attention to detail and deliver impactful results and insights.
  • You will be excited to learn and test new toolsets and someone who keeps in touch with emerging trends in data and analytics.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Data retrieval and manipulation experience using SQL.
  • Good understanding of statistics and mathematics.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with colleagues from different disciplines across business and technical functions.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • A drive to succeed and make a major contribution to the success of analytics within the Bank of Ireland Group.
  • Experience with web behavioural data and cross device journey analytics.
  • Experience using data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Qlikview or Power BI a plus.

Experience with Web behavioural data, customer journey analysis a plus
