Description of business unit:

Reporting to the Chief Data Officer (CDO), the Advanced Analytics team is responsible for the development and execution of the Bank's data analytics strategy. The role holder will deliver value-prioritised analytics projects in a scrum team on behalf of internal customers; and contribute to identifying appropriate framework tools and standards to enable Bank of Ireland to become a data driven organisation.

Purpose of the Role:

This is a Group role to contribute to specific analytics projects, realising the value of our data. You will design, develop and deliver solutions to businesses across the Group, using the newest technologies in data exploration, modelling and visualisation.

You will have an opportunity to partner with the business on a wide variety of projects, collaborating on appropriate ways of working and new methodologies.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build data visualisations and predictive models to provide insight into business process and strategy
  • Use analytical skills to seek business issues, and support the organisation's strategy and values
  • Collaborate with colleagues from across the Bank to drive the adoption of Strategic Analytics
  • Review, document and recommend improvements to current insights and system processes
  • Contribute to a creative culture centred on an agile environment, value prioritisation and design thinking
  • Promote awareness of analytics, emerging industry trends (inc. regulation) and a digital future
  • Support Group IT Ambition, Inclusion & Diversity, and our shared Group values and purpose

Please note you must live in the jurisdiction for the business to which you are contracted.

This job can be done anywhere in Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required for in person collaboration. Exact frequency to be agreed with manager.

Essential Qualifications:

Third Level qualification, in mathematics, statistics, finance, IT, or another discipline including a significant numerical element.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver and achieve results within demanding timescales
  • Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills: Word/Excel/PowerPoint

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working with large datasets from multiple sources and SQL, R or Python programming
  • Design and automated production experience in reporting or Tableau data visualisation
  • Ability to translate business issues into appropriate analysis and communicate results
  • Experience of relational databases, database structures and design
  • Understanding of process flow, data management, GDPR and data lineage concepts
