Description of business unit

Strategy, Architecture and Innovation (SA&I), are the IT Architecture team, within Group IT and Procurement, who develop technology strategies, associated roadmaps, supporting technology principles and standards. The team then guides and governs solution architecture to ensure that appropriate enterprise solutions are developed consistent with strategies, roadmaps, principles and standards. The team also play a key role in gathering, sharing and maintaining knowledge on the architecture of the Enterprise Technology Landscape.

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to a Principal Architect, the Data and Integration Architect is responsible for supporting the implementation of the vision and roadmap for data and integration, ensuring that the estate migrates over time to the target architecture. The architect may also develop supporting sub-strategies, roadmaps and reference architectures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the development of roadmaps and reference architectures for data, integration and API capabilities.
  • Share subject matter expertise on data modelling, lineage design and integration patterns with architect and project colleagues.
  • Ensure data and integration architecture metadata is kept current as projects deliver change into estate.
  • Develop communication and visualisation techniques to disseminate key architecture artefacts to colleagues.
  • Support project colleagues with Enterprise technology landscape knowledge of data, APIs and integration.

What is the opportunity

The Data and Integration architect will create and develop relationships across Business and IT to ensure that the project architectures proposed are aligned to the Business need, are fit for purpose and provide value for the investments made.

They will use tailored communication techniques e.g. Visualisation to share strategy, roadmap, landscape knowledge, challenges, options and complex technical concepts with stakeholders.

They demonstrate accountability, showing full support for the SA&I and IT leadership teams and act as an ambassador for IT, influencing stakeholders, colleagues and peers.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years and proven track record in data and integration design.
  • Minimum of 3 years and proven track record in Data modelling.
  • Proven track record for designing APIs and event-driven interfaces.
  • Knowledge of information/data governance in terms of metadata management.
  • Demonstrated abilities in visioning and high-level solution capabilities.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or similar.
  • Mule soft (API development and/or Platform) certification would be beneficial.
  • Ability to discern elegant/practical solutions.
  • Ability to work with deep-dive technical SME's as well as non-technical business analysts.
  • Pragmatic and structured approach.
  • Ability to listen, interpret, communicate with and influence stakeholders.
