Division Description

Group Manufacturing Division is a key enabler for the development of the Group Operating Model. Group Manufacturing continues to support the Group's priorities in supporting our customers, strengthening capital, improving funding, rigorous management of our asset base and managing costs, with a particular focus on People, Customer, Finance and Risk priorities.

Description of business unit

The Infrastructure Operations Team role is to "Enable the Service" through driving our partners in providing the Bank with the Technology required to run the business, securing the Customers and Banks data, improving stability and remaining current in order to provide a premier service.

Purpose of the Role

The Enterprise Infrastructure Manager will plan, direct and coordinate the efforts of Bank and vendor technical teams to manage the successful delivery of services in the live environment. To fulfil this role, there is a requirement to have strong experience in managing multi-vendors to give assurances that services are being delivered effectively in order to safeguard the business and improve the stability and delivery of this core service. This person will work alongside existing Operations Managers in managing our service providers.

In addition to the ongoing operational responsibilities the holder of this role must also seek to plan effectively and optimize live operations to maximise quality and minimise risk. These responsibilities will require extensive stakeholder and vendor management skills to effectively influence others as well as drive change within the holder's direct area of responsibility.

Key Accountabilities

  • Acting as a technical SME on infrastructure technology for the Bank and demonstrating your expertise as required through effective Coaching and Leadership within the Infrastructure Operations Team.
  • Implement and manage Infrastructure platforms through daily operational activities
  • Ensure strong governance with vendor service delivery team and key customer stakeholders
  • Effectively escalating issues where necessary to Infrastructure Operations / Technology Services leadership to ensure that quality standards are delivered
  • Lead and direct work of a team responsible for specific areas of Infrastructure Operations
  • Driving continual improvement across both Bank and vendor teams to ensure ongoing optimisation of performance of services
  • Maintain & monitor standards, controls, processes and solutions, to minimise business and IT risk
  • Drive through identified Risks to closure including reporting of progress against each Risk assigned within your area of responsibility
  • Ensure full compliance with all Group, Legal and Regulatory requirements and standards
  • Full involvement during Internal / External Audit cycle that are carried out periodically relating to Infrastructure
  • Support remediation of Audit Actions working closely with Internal teams as required.

Essential Qualifications

ITIL Certification or equivalent

Essential Skills & Experience

5+ year's experience to include:

  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure technologies to include (but not limited to) storage, networking, cloud and virtualisation environments.
  • Proven experience in leading Infrastructure operations teams
  • Ability to manage and understand capacity and utilisation reporting
  • Ability to identify and drive cost optimisation initiatives
  • Strong understanding of working in a multi-vendor managed service environment
  • Demonstrable experience of IT service management and service delivery
  • Practical experience of service and process design, implementation and improvement
  • Experience in building out a service catalogue, governance, documentation and knowledge base
  • Broad knowledge of Bank of Ireland business and how IT Services support same
  • Demonstrable experience in discussing technical issues with people at all levels (Customers, Vendors, Service & Business Partners and other Technology Services teams)
  • Experience in dealing with multiple international outsource vendors
  • Strong customer focused background and commercial awareness
  • Process improvement experience with a focus on continued streamlining of processes
  • Proven ability to present service improvement initiatives to both technical and non-technical audiences.

To fulfil this role, there is a requirement to have strong experience in SIAM with managing multi-vendors in depth. This is to give assurances that services are being delivered effectively in order to safeguard the business and improve the stability and delivery of this core service.
