Enterprise Integrated Data Solution Owner

Enterprise Integrated Data Solution Owner

  • Dublin, Ireland
  • Full time

The Group Data Modelling Team sits within the Group Data and Analytics Office (GDAO) within GTCS. We have responsibility for capturing and understanding the semantics of the data used by the Bank and organising that into Data Models that are understandable by Bank personnel, both business and technical.

Data Models are produced at both Business and Technical levels. In particular, the Team manages the Business Data Model (BDM - an extensive logical model of the Bank's data and its inter-relationships), logical and physical models for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and the rules for how data is to be encoded into the EDW.

The Bank is developing an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) which makes all the Bank's data existing across multiple source systems available on a single platform, thereby supporting enterprise-wide reporting and analysis. Included in the EDW are layers of standardised data (e.g. the Integrated Data Layer (IDL) and Common Access Layer (CAL)) where the multiple representations of data as per the source systems are consolidated into common canonical structures. The EDW content is enhanced through a series of strategic Programs, often simultaneously.

The purpose of the Enterprise Integrated Data Solution Owner role is to construct and protect the EDW as a strategic asset for the Bank, by cross-coordinating the needs of the individual Programs towards that strategic goal and ensuring that the data, both current and historic, is accurately and consistently held in the Warehouse.

What is the opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and ambitious team and be a driving force delivering core strategic deliverables that will feed into data integration, data migration, unified reporting and regulatory requirement programs across the Bank.

Training will be provided with respect to knowledge of the EDW and its Layers, alignment with the Bank's Business Data Model (BDM), population processes into the EDW and all aspects of EDW operation.

Working at Bank of Ireland doesn't have to mean working in an office to have an impact. Our commitment to enabling colleagues to thrive means that depending on role type you can have choice and flexibility in where you work and live, subject to your role, customer needs and our requirements. We have a hybrid working model, with home, agile hub and office based options available. We will always list a primary location which can be where you go for in person collaboration, and a location where you can best perform your role.

Please note you must live in the jurisdiction for the business to which you are contracted.

This job can be done anywhere in ROI with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required for in person collaboration. Exact frequency to be agreed with manager.

Key Accountabilities

  • To ensure that the data enhancements proposed by the separate Programs adhere to the strategic designs of the EDW and in particular, its consolidated Layers
  • To handle data backlog and remediation issues arising out of new Program inputs
  • To be responsible for the sourcing and population of shared underlying data not assigned to a particular Program e.g. Market Data such as FX Rates, Country and Currency lists
  • To organise and perform regular health checks on the operation of the EDW and its data content
  • Participate in the design of EDW extensions e.g. to handle new forms of data arising from a Program

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Substantial previous experience of design and implementation of an integrated data environment being fed from multiple source systems and by multiple simultaneous Programs
  • Ability to understand the data encoding principles by which millions of rows of data have been entered into the EDW and be able to spot where new proposals from Programs do not meet those established standards and/or that the data requested may already exist
  • Ability to lead on data remediation projects (e.g. new arising Requirements require a redesign of the current data structures)
  • Knowledge of Informatica and Teradata FSLDM
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with business and technical stakeholders
  • Be able to creatively solve problems with innovative solutions, where sometimes a 'template' or process does not exist
  • Be open to challenges and learning quickly

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in Banking domain or other heavily regulated industry, especially in a data analysis, mapping, modelling and/or development role in an integrated data environment
