Bank of Ireland are delighted to be recruiting a MI Developer to join our Group Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team!

As the first role of its kind in Financial Crime Compliance Risk Solutions, you will be joining the team as an experienced individual contributor with a level of autonomy to lead the design and implementation of how best to utilise the FCC systems data.

The successful candidate will work directly with the Head of FCC Risk Solutions in influencing the direction of the entire data and analytics framework in FCC.

Who are we?

Our Group Risk division guides the Group in its definition and articulation of risk appetite and provides strong independent oversight and management of the Group's risk profile. Our division fulfils its Purpose to enable our customers, colleagues and communities to thrive and pursues its Ambition to be the National Champion Bank in Ireland and selective international diversification.

Our Group Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team sits within Group Risk and operates as a second line function within a three lines of defence model.

We are also responsible for developing and setting a comprehensive vision and approach for enterprise level Financial Crime Compliance (Anti Money Laundering, Countering the Financing of Terrorism, Sanctions and Embargoes, and Anti-Fraud) risk management.

The function maintains a robust risk culture, in support of the Group's strategic goals, by ensuring that the appropriate structures, systems, policies and controls are in place to provide effective management of risk.

What is the opportunity?

The Financial Crime Compliance Risk Solutions team in FCC are responsible for standardising the approach of the management of FCC solutions and systems. The role will require analysing existing data, develop effective tools and dashboards that will help drive decision making, identify solutions and design controls relating to all aspects of the BOI FCC systems.

The role will involve collaborating with financial crime domain experts on building the best solution for reporting on the financial crime systems data. The role will also involve liaising with the Banks Data & Analytics Office to ensure financial crime is represented and is in tune with enterprise level data insight solutions and where financial crime may contribute or benefit from this.

Key Accountabilities

Design, build, test and document information gathering tools, databases and analytics

Design and implement impactful visualisations to ensure wider financial crime SMEs can obtain consistent and reliable information on operational performance, trends and regulatory reporting

Produce reports to identify trends or patterns monitoring key financial crime indicators that will provide insights to senior leaders as to the overall financial crime risk profile of the bank

Design and implement a robust framework around the operationalizing of financial crime system data including UAT, controls, and documenting the data sources and models

Promote and advocate for the benefits in use of data led solutions including in decision making

About You

Essential Qualifications

  • Third Level qualification, in mathematics, science, statistics, finance, IT, or another relevant field
  • 3+ years working experience in a data analytics focused role

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that you can adapt to technical and non-technical audiences
  • A desire to understand business problems and to evaluate the results of your work in a business context, including the ability to propose a solution and effectively communicate this at various levels to gain the appropriate support
  • Proven quantitative, analytical and problem-solving capabilities in professional capacity
  • with the ability to take ownership of deliverables and work on own initiative or as part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to a fluid change environment

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Experience of Tableau, PowerBi, Excel, PowerPivot or Sharepoint
  • Experience of SQL, Teradata, coding in VBA, Visual Basic, R, python
  • Quantitative academic background (Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science), degrees preferred
  • Understanding of the financial services industry within a retail, corporate or investment banking context
  • Demonstrable experience of Management Information and Tooling implementations in a Financial Crime compliance context

This job can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland/United Kingdom with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required for in person collaboration.
