This role represents a very exciting opportunity where you`ll be in a unique position to assess the objectives and requirements of the Bank`s strategy, ensuring the risk appetite framework protects the £20 BnRetail portfolio performance.

Through portfolio insights and credit forecasting tools, you`ll identify emerging risks and issues for the Bank, and champion credit change, ensuring our account and debt management strategies remain robust. We`re looking for someone who can present their professional views internally and externally, engaging and advising both within the Bank Committee structure but also with our UK and European regulators, audit functions and other 3rd parties as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead the portfolio risk team, determining the most appropriate methods of data collection and analysis in order to bring to the forefront emerging credit risks on the Secured and Unsecured portfolios; Formulates and implements credit recommendations and solutions;
  • To champion approaches through methodology research that provide forecasts of how portfolio(s) will evolve under varying economic scenarios focussing on arrears and losses, presenting results of research activity to express professional findings; and
  • To oversee, and where necessary challenge, those functions across the business whose activities impact upon the risk appetite performance of the portfolios.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experienced credit risk professional with exposure to portfolio credit risk management across the credit lifecycle from acquisition through to debt management, and the corresponding application of models.
  • The role holder must have considerable experience of writing technical presentations and papers for senior committees, including knowledge of IFRS9 accounting standard; and
  • Proven track record of the ability to influence key stakeholders in the management of credit risk.
