Description of the business unit:

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions division provides Technology Services & Solutions, IT Change, Payments and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners.

Purpose of the Role:

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions division provides Technology Services & Solutions, IT Change, Payments and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop a 3 year rolling Group Portfolio Plan through compilation of a range of Strategic roadmaps and Group Divisional plans, developing one overall plan for the Group that meets its strategic goals.
  • This role will have centralised oversight of scope, financials, resources, risks, benefits realisation, timelines and interdependencies across the Group plan.
  • Engage with key delivery areas such as the Business, Group Finance, Group Strategy and Group Change and Group IT and Procurement to understand the aggregate of the Groups change agenda and support the prioritisation and appropriate phasing of the change agenda.
  • Ensure benefits realisation tracking approach is defined, agreed and implemented for the Group in consultation with Group Finance and Business.
  • Evaluate and communicate the implications (Customer, Financial, Business, People) of the aggregate level of programme and project risk.
  • Develop, monitor and oversee standard portfolio metrics (including scope, financials, risks, costs, benefits) and report consolidated impacts on colleagues and customers, identifying where, how and when both colleagues and customers are impacted by change.
  • Mandate or recommend review or intervention where key indicators of progress identify material deviation from the plan.
  • Ensure key portfolio interdependences are communicated and understood, identify and raise capacity constraints and ensure process for prioritisation decisioning is transparent and strategic.
  • Proactively build and maintain knowledge of regulatory influences on major change initiatives.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent track record in the development and implementation of strategic plans as they relate to major transformation programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of programme delivery risk and portfolio interdependency identification and management.
  • Ability to engage, influence, relate and challenge, where required, at an Executive level, across multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to analyse data in the context of programme oversight and provide recommendations based on the finest details but also considering a macro level impact.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams and initiating and establish new teams.
  • Evidence of advanced critical thinking, judgement, analytical and problem solving skills demonstrated within a matrix environment of a large and complex organisation.
  • Credible business knowledge and understanding of the Group's Strategic Plan, Programme Management, organisation, processes, products.
  • Sound planning and financial analysis skills, regulatory and commercial acumen
  • Experience in the establishment and embedding new Enterprise-wide governance.
  • Experience in the formation and building of high performance teams.
