Head of Test
What is the opportunity?
The Head of Test will establish the strategy for testing within the organisation, and lead its implementation in delivering a consolidated and standardised approach for testing, with initial focus on testing services within the Group`s core transformation programme. The strategy will include the creation of a Test Factory which will be underpinned by a clear business case and associated roadmap, with its delivery being supported by internal and external partners.
The Head of Test will be an advocate for Testing within the organisation, and will have a demonstrated track record in leading change within large organisations, specifically in the area of testing services. Candidates must have previously managed a Test Factory set up and run in a client, not necessarily in financial services (although expertise in the financial area is a plus), to the level of complexity and size specified and must have the relevant relationship skills to build a trusted and commercial relationship with the vendors and the internal clients.
Once established, the Head of Test will operationally lead the Test factory, managing relationships with internal clients (business and development entities), creating standardised/automated testing services which will be supported by appropriate processes and tooling.
Test Factory team will comprise a mix of internal and external resources, who will provide all Test Services offered (test execution, test automation, test management, test environment management, coordination of testing in different releases, orchestration of environment and bug fixing).
The Test lead will interface with both vendors and internal build teams delivering code to be tested end with the business and end users to insure the final UAT testing is properly integrated with E2E testing and accepted by the users. The Head of Test will be willing to travel to partner locations to oversee performance and to ensure integration into the Test model.
Capability of understanding and managing a Business Case around improving Test Quality and reducing Testing cost is paramount since the Test Factory will become the Bank independent advisor on quality and maintainability of application supplied by third parties and internal development.
Bank uses both Agile and Waterfall methodologies for development so an understanding of both worlds and how to properly approach Testing in them is required.
