Description of Business Unit:

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions division provides IT Run & Change, Payments and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners.

Purpose of the Role:

As a member of the GTCS Leadership Team, and the Group HR Leadership Team, the HR Director will have responsibility for the creation and delivery of a forward thinking people strategy to enable significant transformation across the Division over the next number of years.

The HR Director will provide strategic direction, support and guidance to the Group COO and GTCS leadership team on all aspects of the people agenda and will also provide leadership, coaching and development to a team of HR Professionals engaged in Business Partner activity across the relevant business GTCS.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the Head of GTCS and the Leadership Team on all people related aspects of strategy taking into account the Group's focus on change/investment in infrastructure and technology, its impact on the future of work and the customer experience.
  • Work with GTCS and Group Human Resource colleagues to ensure that Group HR strategies and policies meet the needs of the GTCS strategy, whilst ensuring an appropriate level of consistency and compliance.
  • Support the Group COO and the GTCS Leadership Team in leading and influencing OD, change and restructuring initiatives that streamline processes, support customer centricity and reduce cost across the Division, personally acting as a change agent when appropriate and assisting in the successful conclusion of industrial relation/employee relations issues as they arise.
  • Develop, lead and deliver on Strategic Group programs when required.
  • Lead, develop and coach a team of talented HR professionals to maximise their individual and collective potential while contributing to the delivery of business objectives while role modelling the Group's Core Values.
  • Be a strongly contributing member of the Group HR Leadership Team, demonstrating commitment to strategic goals combined with a strong focus on execution and delivery.

What is the opportunity?

As part of the HR Leadership team you will play an integral role in delivery of the HR people strategy across the Group as we continue through an exciting journey of transformation. Alongside that you will display strong leadership,managing and coach a team of talented HR professionals to drive the GTCS people strategy to enable the delivery of amongst other deliverables, a key transformation priority, the Customer Banking Solutions Platform.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 3rd level degree in HR Management or related business discipline.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experienced & credible HR professional with at least 10 years relevant HR & business experience and at least 5 years in a Senior strategic HR role preferably within the Financial Services industry.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent business acumen and an ability to understand the needs of the business and use HR thought leadership to develop and deliver solutions to the business.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to influence both internally and externally at the highest levels, demonstrating emotional intelligence, resilience and independence as well as an ability and willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Proven capability to lead, develop and motivate a high-performing team to deliver high impact business outcomes.
  • Proven demonstrable ability to develop, lead and execute on the delivery of strategic programs as they arise in addition to core responsibilities
  • Developed external network with the ability to monitor industry / market emerging trends and best practices.
  • Please note this is a controlled function role and subject to Central Bank Requirements

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant Masters or Post Graduate qualification in HR or business related subject
