The Infrastructure Operations Team's role is to "Enable the Service" through driving our partners in providing the Bank with the Technology required to run the business, securing the Customers and Banks data, improving stability and remaining current in order to provide a premier service.

Purpose of the Role:

To work as a member of Technology Service's (TS's) Security Support Services team, governing and overseeing the Bank's service providers' BAU activities relating to data backup and restore (BUR), server anti-virus management and IT Security vulnerability remediation - through server patching and secure configuration management.

What is the Opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team responsible for ensuring that the Bank of Ireland's data and devices are appropriately secured. This is a key component of the effective management of IT risk within the Bank. The successful candidate will have the chance to acquire new knowledge and skills in relation to securing the Bank's IT assets and to apply his / her experience to positively impact the continuous improvement of the service provided by the team.

Key Accountabilities:

Working closely with the other areas in TS, the Bank's service provider(s) and Group Information Security (GIS) to:

  • Drive / participate in initiatives to improve quality of BUR, Anti-Virus, Patching and Secure Configuration through effective governance and technical oversight
  • Provide appropriate technical assistance with, and drive action plans to address Threat Intelligence received
  • Provide technical support, guidance and expertise to support the delivery of the services provided by TS's Security Support Services team
  • Contribute to improvement of vulnerability prioritisation in the Bank's vulnerability management tooling
  • Produce MIS for Backup and Restore, Vulnerability Management and Secure Configuration - including management reports, KPI production and ad hoc requests
  • Contribute to improvement in area's overall efficiency through automation.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of / experience with enterprise backup and restore technologies and techniques
  • Proficiency with SQL Server / MS Access and MIS reporting tools
  • Knowledge of Networking technologies
  • Must possess tenacity and attention to detail
  • Proven experience working in an IT Operations environment. A background in Financial Services is important, preferably having worked in an outsourced service environment
  • Ability to deal effectively with varying levels of technical and organisational complexity
  • Flexibility in approach to working hours
  • Must have initiative, be a self-starter and be capable of prioritising a mixed workload effectively.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of / qualifications relating to Wintel and Unix Operating Systems

Desirable Requirements:

  • 3rd level degree in a relevant discipline
