Division Description

Group Technology & Customer Solutions comprises a number of key business areas: Group Customer Origination & Fulfilment, Group Customer Services, Group Services, IT@BOI, Group Information Security, Risk Management Support and the Group Portfolio Office. These businesses are supported by HR and Finance partners

Description of business unit

The Service Design team, within Technology Services, comprises of Availability, Capacity, IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM) and Business Continuity Management (BCM).

The team focus on our Category 1 services and ensure they perform today, be prepared for the future and recover as expected if needed. We do this through close working relationships with our partners (internal and external) and a proactive approach to IT service management.

Purpose of the Role

We are constantly evolving the way we operate in Service Design to always focus on ensuring our critical services have robust availability for our customer for today, tomorrow and into the future. Specifically, for IT Service Availability Management we strive to: -

  • Implement our service standards- ensuring critical IT services are delivering what the customers expect.
  • Plan for the future -focus for the year ahead is ensuring our Category 1 services always meet the availability requirements for our customer needs.
  • Service Availability- ensuring our service availability targets are achieved through proactive management and awareness

Success for this role is ensuring that Availability targets are met for our customers and services are designed in line with those requirements

You will work with a broad range of technology across a combination of internal teams (e.g. Operations, Change & Dev, SA&I, Business Demand) and external partners & vendors.

Key Accountabilities

  • Acting as a Service Integrator for Availability management across all teams, partners and business demand sources.
  • Championing the Availability function and Service Design team.
  • Ensure mechanisms in place to measure Service Availability
  • Ensure Availability is analysed and that any remediation actions identified
  • Educating multiple parties on the Availability Management process, policy, controls and risks.
  • Ensuring key partner SLA's are in place, are appropriate and tracked against Availability requirements
  • Engaging with multiple stakeholders within IT.
  • Support the Vendor Management process in negotiation and agreement of new / revised contracts with suppliers to ensure required Availability requirements are met
  • Management of risk for the Availability Management process utilising the Group's risk management framework

Essential Qualifications

  • ITIL Certification desirable
  • Experience of managing work across a multi-vendor outsourced environment
  • Confidence in dealing with all levels within an organisation

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Excellent understanding of the Availability processes and Availability planning.
  • Experience of delivering results through cross team collaboration
  • Good IT systems knowledge and skills and the ability to learn new software packages

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Comfortable withCloud Services, technology and Cloud Service Management
  • Understanding of BoI Group structure and IT systems
  • Experience of automation and use of tooling for Availability Management
