IT Controls Manager - Application Operations

The Application Operations area forms part of the Technology Services Team within IT @ BOI.

Technology Services (TS) is responsible for ensuring that the technology required for the bank to deliver service to internal and external customers is available and ready for use and regularly reviewed and optimised. It also ensures that the services are supported and managed in a standard way and that new services are introduced in a controlled manner to prevent disruption to operation.

The opportunity:

Supporting the Application Operations team in providing a broad range of services to support and enhance process on behalf of the Application Operations Service Delivery Teams.

Providing services to Applications Operations delivery towers with respect to Risk & Issue Management, with specific focus on IT Control

Location: This role is based in the IT Centre in Cabinteely, Dublin 18.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide governance and management of the Technology Services IT Controls Process
  • Provide analysis of Risks and Issues across the Applications Operations Area
  • Develop processes with cognizance of the requirements of the AO `run` services
  • Manage activities based on project management disciplines
  • Support Technical Services in responding to regulatory audit
  • Coordinate the preparation and documenting of reports to respond to IT@BOI initiatives


  • Support Technical Services with the transition to new ways of working/services into the Applications Operations area
  • Recognize the importance of and embed a culture of process improvement
  • focus on streamlining internal operations with all teams ensuring added value to our business

Continuous improvement

  • Analyse and enhance Technical Services operating processes as appropriate

Risk & Compliance

  • Engage with Application Operations responsibilities in the area of controls, processes and solutions, to minimise business and IT risk
  • Ensure full compliance with all Group, Legal and Regulatory requirements and standard

Management Support

  • Support Management with the embedding of the new IT@BOI culture and behaviours
  • Positive and proactive participation within the team and active collaboration with colleagues across IT@BOI as appropriate

Essential Requirements:


  • Confident in dealing at all levels within the organisation
  • Open attitude and experience in implementing change
  • Proven abilities in facilitation and negotiation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage well under pressure and to operate in a decisive and inclusive manner
  • Business Analysis skills


  • Knowledge and experience of IT Controls
  • Project Management Capabilities
  • Understanding of Risk and Issue Management
  • Understand continuous improvement activities
  • Strong report writing capability
  • Analytical Thinking
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements


  • Leaving certificate - minimum of 5 passes (grade D or above) at Ordinary Level, which must includeEnglish and Maths, or equivalent or superseding qualification

Desirable Requirements:

  • 3rd level degree in a relevant discipline
