Description of business unit

Group Technology & Customer Solutions comprises a number of key business areas: Group Customer Origination & Fulfilment, Group Customer Services, Group Services, IT@BOI, Group Information Security, Risk Management Support and the Group Portfolio Office. These businesses are supported by HR and Finance partners

Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of high quality non-production on-prem & Cloud environment management solutions and capabilities across the group.

Key Accountabilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensures EMS policies applicable for infrastructure are adhered to and continuously monitored, as well as implementing additional policies according to all applicable regulations.
  • Leading end to end execution and responsibility for all aspects of the Test & Dev Environments, including definition, planning, execution & implementation, governance & control, financial, resource and change management.
  • Coordinate and maintain environment usage across multiple programs and platforms by working with other internal and external colleagues/teams to plan when environments will be utilised and support any conflicts whilst also ensuring release schedules are adhered to.
  • Define and track KPI's for IT Environments build, maintenance and support
  • Communicate Test and Dev Environment availability to project management, Test and Dev Leads across the bank
  • Collaboration with sponsors / stakeholders to ensure that all critical stakeholder interests are met. Building strong relationships with senior stakeholders within IT, Global Businesses, Finance.
  • Work within the operational framework to provide assistance with operations of the Test and Dev environments.
  • Ensure environments documented and procedures to facilitate application installs ready for handover to operational teams.
  • Providing senior stakeholder level overview of progress, lead and direct multidisciplinary teams across all functions in the Shared Service model
  • Providing financial analysis, including being able to contextualise financial data into business activities and conclusions.
  • Owning the identification and escalation of any budgetary related risks, issues and opportunities to portfolio/function as appropriate.
  • Manage Strategies and continue to identify/implement improvements on all future infrastructure services.
  • Maintaining security standards across all infrastructures and making sure the support/engineering team follow them.
  • Analyses and predicts trends and develops long-range plans designed to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness of the Bank's IT infrastructure.
  • Demonstrates a proactive approach in helping to mitigate risks, improve quality in an efficient manner and resolve issues that do occur.

Essential Skills & Experience

The IT Environment Delivery Lead role is a level-4 role requiring skills and experience in:

  • Solid experience managing and provisioning of environments.
  • Strongexperience with using a broad range of AWS technologies (e.g. EC2, RDS, ELB, EBD, S3, VPC, Glacier, IAM, Cloud Watch, KMS) to develop and maintain an Amazon AWS based cloud solution, with an emphasis on best practice cloud security.
  • Experience managing teams financial and budgetary requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of technology infrastructure and services as well as working experience in Agile, Waterfall and DevOps environment.
  • Significant experience in managing on-prem and Cloud platforms:
    • Experience in VDI management , Citrix, HP ALM
    • Knowledge on Networking & firewall rules
    • Knowledge on Active Directory (AD & groups)
    • Knowledge on LAN & VLAN
    • Knowledge on AIX Server hardwares ( Frames, Virtual Memory, VCPU)
  • Strong IT skills/understanding, including experiencing working with Information Security, integrated platforms and Infrastructure
  • Working experience with outsource IT suppliers and IT Design partners.
  • Security controls including SSL and OAM. Encryption standards and implementations.
  • Pro-active, independent and ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
  • Good strategic outlook of change analysis & delivery skills (e.g. root cause analysis, options analysis, prioritisation, planning/scheduling, communication, negotiating, facilitation, presentation, implementation) and continuous improvement skills
  • Ability to influence best practices and governance for Test and Dev Environments and Release / Deployment.
  • Track record of continuous service improvement with tangible results impacting support, customer satisfaction, and cost.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to present complex ideas in clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical groups.
  • Developing and tracking a detailed environment plan across multiple platforms
  • Maintaining system documentation and supporting releases with the required project requirements.
  • Provide estimates for on boarding of new on-prem and Cloud VPC infrastructure for Test and Dev environments
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Work with respective 3rd party suppliers and software vendors to implement systems, upgrades and embed changes.
  • Experience interacting at with technology and business in influencing management on a day-to-day basis
  • Change agent with proven ability of implementing large scale organizational, procedural, technology and people related change programmes.
