Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this role is to own and govern the Delivery of Infrastructure across the enterprise, including;

  • the Operational Risk and Currency Portfolio, wherein infrastructure is the key technology driver and sponsorship is through the IT Organisation
  • Infrastructure change exists as an enabling technology within a wider change portfolio sponsored by the business. This role will bring together a number of internal and external parties to drive forward a programme of simplification, standardisation and efficiency challenges to improve the way infrastructure is delivered across the Bank.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leads the development and mobilisation of this new function within IT Engineering & Delivery organisation
  • Is ultimately accountable for the execution of the delivery of the Infrastructure change roadmap covering; Hosting Solutions (on-premise and cloud), Compute, Storage and Networks
  • Governs and manages the delivery of multiple Infrastructure projects and portfolios, working in partnership with key 3rdparty suppliers to implement the roadmap
  • Works with IT Vendor Management to agree the contracting and commercial models with the respective 3rd parties and to measure and track their performance and manage escalations
  • Collaborates with 3rdparties to develop repeatable design and build patterns which can be called off through catalogue arrangements
  • Works closely with the Lead IT Infrastructure Architect to mature the technology roadmap and ensure deliverability of change
  • Works closely with the Cloud Centre of Excellence and IT Architects to coordinate Cloud hosting solutions for Change Programmes
  • Works with the Environment and Test lead to ensure the correct provisioning and support of services in respective to non-production environments
  • Manages the Infrastructure Project Lifecycle Management;
    • Receives Demand from Group Change
    • Receives non-functional requirements from Change Delivery Directors
    • Validates the requirements with key vendors before accepting them into the delivery process
    • Engages with vendors to scope and size IT Infrastructure projects
    • Supports the clarification process and vets the final submission of infrastructure proposals
    • Works with Technology Services, to manage the technical release and service acceptance of new solutions into production
    • Manages escalations and undertakes Quality Assurance work in instances of significant deviation
    • Builds patterns and blueprints to enable a culture of DevOps within the factory model

Ensure effective and timely knowledge transfer into BAU.

Essential Skills & Experience

The IT Infrastructure Delivery Lead is aSenior level role requiring skills and experience in:

  • Deep technical experience and track record across Hosting Solutions (on-premise and cloud), Compute, Storage, Networks
  • Experience of provisioning cloud infrastructure services with Azure or AWS
  • Strong experience in Firewalls/Networking
  • Managing large Infrastructure delivery Programmes within a complex Business environment, including leading and influencing substantial numbers of non-direct reports and 3rdparty suppliers
  • Deep understanding of IT Industry best practice - Programme/Project Management, Systems Development Lifecycle and Service provision
  • A range of delivery models including Waterfall, Agile and DevOps
  • People Management - leadership and management skills, influencing and relationship building.
  • Stakeholder Management - effective management of internal and external stakeholder interests across a complex organisational structure, including partnerships.
  • Supplier Management - integration of suppliers in the end to end IT delivery process
  • Risk management - understanding of the delivery risks faced by IT delivery and the controls in place to manage & mitigate these risks.
  • Credibility and confidence working at senior levels in the organisation; including C-suite executives.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Grade 2.1 in IT related degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an IT infrastructure delivery role.
