An exciting opportunity exists for a role in the IT Risk & Controls team in one of Irelands most successful life assurance companies.

Ireland`s IT Department has 100 full time staff and together with our Customer Operations teams delivers a consistent high quality Customer experience.

The role will be closely aligned with the NIAC IT Security function and will be a key support to 2nd line Op Risk.

Purpose of the Role:

Internal Financial Controls (IFC - formally known as SOx), IT Security and Information Security are key components within the IT function of New Ireland. The role holder will be responsible for delivering and driving continuous improvement in relation to the IFC, IT Security and Information security risk management framework, IFC controls and testing, IT security standards, processes and testing and the development, review and implementation of policies and structures in support of the wider governance framework.

The role reports to the IT Infrastructure Risk and Controls Manager of New Ireland and the successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with IT and the business in New Ireland and as part of the wider Bank of Ireland Group and Group IT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Information and IT Control awareness, design and documentation (including IFC)
  • Risk organisation, identification, assessment, treatment and reporting
  • Control operation and testing
  • Work with internal & external auditors (IFC and non-IFC), Operational Risk, Compliance and other stakeholders as required
  • Involvement in IT security reviews with BOI IT Security
  • Assist in IT security solution reviews
  • Attendance at the IT Architecture Review Board
  • Security Incident reporting and remediation
  • Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including business areas, IT project and development teams, risk and compliance and relevant 3rd party suppliers
  • Support project delivery through planning, assessment and transition to live service as a key stakeholder in the SDLC process
  • Demonstrate flexibility to cope with changing demands based on business priority
  • Customer service orientation, with an attitude of personal "ownership" for all work

Essential Qualifications:

  • IT 3rd Level technical qualification (e.g. computer science degree or similar)

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • At least 7 years IT experience and at least 3-5 years in a similar role
  • Strong risk management background
  • Strong controls (including IFC) background in processes, procedures and compliance
  • Proven ability to prioritise, multi-task and manage own workload according to changing priorities
  • Highly organised and self-motivated individual with the ability to prioritise effectively and work independently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and report-writing skills to all levels within the company
  • Displays a customer focus and "can do" attitude
  • Ability to deliver in challenging environment

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • ITIL Foundation V3 certification or good understanding of ITIL processes
  • Cybercrime - good working knowledge and experience
  • Familiarity with Radar or industry standard risk management tools
