Description of business unit

Group IT will enable the Group Strategy by delivering high quality technology change to support defined business outcomes in line with group goals and customer expectations by ensuring that the technology landscape runs silently and that customers are being appropriately supported. Group IT is made up of three primary functions; Strategy & Architecture, Engineering & Delivery and Technology Services.

The IT Risk and Compliance function is tasked with supporting Group IT through identification, assessment and management of technology risk in line with the Group's Risk Framework and Audit / Regulatory expectations.

Purpose of the Role

The IT Risk & Compliance function is seeking to fill a number of IT Risk & Compliance Manager roles. These are 1stline of defence risk roles where the successful candidates will work as part of a centralised team of IT risk professionals tasked with ensuring effective identification, assessment and management of technology risk as well as ensuring compliance with Group policies, procedures and standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Accountabilities

Participating in, or leading, various assignments to ensure timely completion of Risk, Audit Assurance, and Regulatory demands. Typical activities include:

  • Ensuring that Group IT is aligned to the Group's Business Control Framework in management of its regulatory and operational risk exposures
  • Execution of relevant aspects of risk-based assessments of Group IT's control environment, to determine the adequacy and effectiveness of controls in place to mitigate risks
  • Challenge and validation the quality and scope of relevant RCSAs, ensuring complete and accurate coverage of related risk and control landscape
  • Assisting with coordination of responses to queries, audits and reviews from risk stakeholders such as Group Risk, GIA and Regulators
  • Conducting reviews to ensure compliance with the Group's standards, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Direction and guidance to Group IT management for relevant risk assurance activities across the three lines of defence, external audit and Regulatory Bodies driving efficient and effective engagement
  • Support the collation and production of effective standardised technology risk reporting to Group IT, Business Units, onward 2LOD committees and Board to enable risk informed decision-making and investment prioritisation.

Essential Qualifications

3rd level qualification in similar discipline or equivalent experience

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 2-5+ years' work experience in a similar role and/or working in a risk management/audit environment/regulated financial services entity.
  • Good understanding of the Group's key businesses, priorities and challenges, in addition to the regulatory environment in which the Group operates.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills including the ability to interact effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Track record that demonstrates integrity, resilience, sound judgement and independence.
  • Ability to operate in an agile and flexible team-based environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver high quality work within challenging timeframes.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Experience of key application related risk management (e.g. currency, availability)
  • Solidunderstanding of infrastructure related risk (hosting on premise, cloud, physical and virtual environments). Familiarity with different infrastructure platforms and associated risks.
  • Ability to understand and assess business impacts of technology risks.
  • Solid understanding of IT service continuity/business continuity risk management.
  • Understand risks associated emerging technologies
  • Experience of third party related risk management
