Description of business unit

Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking manages some of the Bank`s largest and most prestigious domestic and international names. Corporate Banking Ireland & UK ("CBI&UK") is responsible for large corporations including PLC`s, multinationals, financial institutions/IFSC groups, semi-states and other large companies. We also manage an intermediary network from where structured transactions are sourced in collaboration with the Retail Network. Our New Business and Business Development Teams are responsible for all new to Bank and inward foreign direct investment.

Purpose of the Role

The key elements of this role encompass client relationship & risk management for key mid to large sized clients, incorporating credit & risk assessment, sales and cross-selling of group products, business development with existing customers and supporting the wider team/ Corporate Banking Ireland objectives from a strategy, compliance, data quality and operational perspective.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the Corporate Banking business agenda while maintaining the highest standards of client relationship, credit assessment / management and associated documentation.
  • Oversee portfolio relationship management of performing bilateral, club and syndicated deals with a view to ensuring client portfolios are managed in line with best practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop quality and collaborative relationships with both internal & external clients and stakeholders and ensuring appropriate external profiling of Bank of Ireland`s offering.
  • Undertake on-going reviews of the portfolio with particular emphasis on the perceived higher risk loans.
  • Add value to significant business and group projects and initiatives as required.
  • Ensure the highest credit standards are met while having a hands-on approach to operational risk and all aspects of data quality for regulatory and business returns for the team.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years banking experience in a Corporate Banking or Business Banking environment
  • Demonstrable credit and financial analysis acumen supported by a thorough understanding of security / banking law, including negotiation of loan documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships, including excellent oral and written communication skills, including an ability to present to senior management and other business units (e.g. credit)
  • Experience of dealing with customers, other lenders, intermediaries and advisors
  • Diverse sector experience, broad knowledge of transaction structures and current trends in market
  • Experienced in generating cross-selling opportunities from Bank of Ireland product offering
  • Sound financial modelling & transaction structuring skills

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Developed people management and leadership capability.
  • Appropriate third level / professional qualifications
