Multi-Channel Technical Platform Owner

Location: This role is based in Dublin.

Key Accountabilities:

The T24 Core Technical Platform Owner will mature the delivery capability for T24 within Bank of Ireland. This will include:

  • Bridging the gap between solution architecture, detailed technical design and technical delivery of solutions on the T24 UXP Platform.
  • Act as a technical reference for design, development, testing and deployment knowledge.
  • Establish internal T24 UXP delivery capability for Bank of Ireland while maintaining a good balance with our delivery partners.
  • Manage vendor relationships insofar as technical delivery through the Software Development Lifecycle is concerned:
  • Ensure that functional and non-functional quality criteria are documented, understood and adhered to.
    • Detailed analysis and remediation of performance characteristics during and after a performance test - amongst other similar non-functional engineering topics.
  • Ensure that integration patterns from upstream systems and into downstream systems are well understood and thoroughly built and tested.
  • Deep expertise in contemporary software development processes such as Test Driven Development, Feature Toggling, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery etc.
  • Evolving the technology stack with in collaboration with our partners to rapid deployment and high availability
  • Ensure that service introduction and operational requirements are clearly understood and documented. Where necessary support the operations teams with expertise to support T24 in production environments.
  • Influence, evolve and mature the broader IT Operating Model regarding plan, change and run activities to ensure an efficient and effective omni-channel platform for BOI into the future.

Essential Requirements:

Skills & Experience:

Technical Competencies:

  • Deep technical expertise in the following areas:
    • T24 edgeConnect platform.
    • Java, Javascript, HTML5
    • Devops tooling: Chef, Puppet, GoCD, Jenkins, Cucumber etc.
    • Cloud tooling: Saas, Paas and IaaS (AWS and Azure).
    • Software containers: JBoss, Tomcat, Hudson.
    • Temenos Frameworks (Data Lifecycle Management, Design Framework and Integration Framework).
    • Integration frameworks and paradigms i.e. Service Oriented Architectures and Microservices.
    • Performance and non-functional engineering expertise through the software stack from the systems of engagement to systems of record.

Leadership & People Management:

  • Guide and direct partner organisations to assist in delivery of work as appropriate mixing contract management and internal management appropriately.
  • Embed good people management practices in line with Group standards, including completion of goals and reviews for direct reports
  • Support, coach and manage team performance, recognising and utilising individual strengths to achieve optimum benefit for the team.
  • Embed good engineering practices within teams and act as a mentor for these practices.
  • Provide support for learning and development for individuals and for the benefit of the overall unit.

Risk & Compliance:

  • Maintain & monitor standards, controls, processes and solutions, to minimise business and IT risk especially on test.
  • Understand IT Business Continuity best practices and ensure that these are adhered to.
  • Ensure full compliance with all Group, Legal and Regulatory requirements and standards


  • Leaving certificate - minimum of 5 passes (grade D or above) at Ordinary Level, which must includeEnglish and Maths, or equivalent or superseding qualification

Desirable Requirements:


  • Change and technical leadership on large transformational programmes
    • Core banking implementation experience is of particular importance
  • Software architecture and development
  • Vendor management
  • Expert knowledge Software Delivery Methods
  • More than 15 years in the IT domain and more than 10 in specific Architecture and Development management.
