The Pricing and Insights department is responsible for the pricing of New Ireland Assurance's products - both group and individual. The department is a key driver of the company's strategic sales and profitability targets.

Key functions of the department include:

  • Pricing of Individual Products (investment, savings, pensions, protection)
  • Pricing of Group Schemes (annuities, group risk, pensions)
  • Providing analysis and papers for pricing committee
  • Providing regular pricing to our distribution partners

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the pricing of our individual products is accurate, thorough and timely.

Key Accountabilities

  • Pricing of individual products - both campaign pricing and permanent pricing changes for products.
  • Preparation of papers for pricing committee. Papers should be thorough and of a high standard to enable the committee to have a high degree of confidence in their pricing decisions.
  • Understanding how competitive our pricing is in the market and where improvements are required.
  • Maintaining a close relationship with our distribution and finance departments and leveraging their expertise.
  • Flexibility to support the daily pricing requirements of the team as required.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in an agile team fully focused on driving the company strategy.

The role offers the opportunity to work with our distribution, actuarial & finance, risk, customer service and retention departments. It also offers the candidate regular dealings with senior management (MD, CFO, CRO, HOAF, Commercial Director) through presentations to pricing committee.

Essential Qualifications

Nearly/Newly Qualified Actuary

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years relevant industry experience with good Life and Pensions product knowledge
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to balance competing priorities while still achieving a high standard of work.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills


  • Life Assurance pricing experience
  • Solvency II experience
  • Prophet experience
  • Commercially focused with an interest in company strategy
  • Personal drive and ambition to exceed objectives.
