Purpose of the Role:

This is a key role within Distribution Channels, reporting to the Head of Consumer Digital Channels. The Product Owner is a core member of the team and should quickly build up a deep understanding of our secure channels product (365 online and mobile app). The PO will manage and deliver a number of initiatives including customer enhancements, regulatory compliance, risk, complaint mitigants and operational initiatives ensuring the channels support both customer and business objectives.

They must have a clear perspective on what`s required to achieve the right commercial outcomes for the business and ensure that stakeholders are kept fully up to date and expectations are managed. The Product Owner must be very pragmatic, be a proven deliverer ideally with channel/product and project management experience. From time to time, the PO will be required to work within delivery squads translating the customer and business needs to the team including development and test colleagues and empower the team to achieve the best outcome for the project.

An excellent communicator, the PO will work with colleagues across a number of areas including Retail, IT@BOI, Contact Centre, Marketing amongst others, to develop innovative, cost efficient solutions to business and/or customer challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the delivery of a number of initiatives on the product roadmap
  • Development of excellent relationships with key stakeholders across the Group and a solid understanding of company organisation and strategic goals
  • Derive the functional requirements and features from business cases
  • Ensure budget is in place for each initiative and prioritisation agreed with stakeholders
  • Work closely with an agile delivery team to deliver key features or fixes on our channels
  • Maintain prioritized backlogs and ensure that teams have a clear understanding of what they are developing and the value it delivers to the customer
  • Where required, collaborate with UX designers to ensure successful design and development of product improvements
  • Ongoing updates to RADAR and management of risks and controls on the risk register
  • Is a key decision maker in the agile squads and has delegated authority to make decisions relating to the defined outcomes

Leadership & People Management:

  • Provide support for learning and development for individuals and for the benefit of the team
  • Act as an advocate for agile methodologies within the team

Risk & Compliance:

  • Maintain & monitor standards, controls, processes & solutions, to minimise business and IT risk
  • Ensure full compliance with all Group, Legal and Regulatory requirements and standards

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum level 5 Leaving Certificate to include English and Math or equivalent
  • QFA is the preferred qualification however applications from individuals who hold APA Loans and Investments will be accepted on the understanding at interview they will commit to attaining APA within18 months of being appointed to the role.

Successful candidate will be at their best when they have:

  • Minimum 3-5 years` experience as Product Owner/Manager or Business Analyst
  • Experience of agile delivery desirable (e.g. Scrum)
  • Excellent communication, relationship building & collaboration skills
  • Experience using a customer centric approach to building products/services/solutions
  • Proven and demonstrable decision making skills
  • Proven record of willingness to take the initiative and adopt a proactive approach
  • Ability to influence cross functional teams and facilitate conversations to agree direction
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical timelines in a fast paced environment
  • Understanding and appreciation of Bank IT platforms and software desirable
