Purpose of the Role:

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, leading and delivering projects, from initiation to close, which meet agreed business and technical objectives within time, cost and quality standards.

Please note you must live in the jurisdiction for the business to which you are contracted.

This job can be done anywhere in Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required for in person teamwork. Exact frequency to be agreed with manager.

Key Accountabilities:

Governance Monitoring and Control

  • Maintain an appropriate project governance structure and effective communication processes
  • Follow the Banks standard project management framework, setting out the reporting, control and escalation mechanisms and incorporating the necessary internal approval mechanisms as the need arises
  • Lead project issues, risks, dependencies and change control within agreed processes, and update Business Case accordingly, to ensure delivery of project results within the agreed scope
  • Ensure that the Bank of Ireland investment approval and review process is followed and be responsive to recommendations of any health check /project reviews
  • Lead the project budget on behalf of the Executive Sponsor, monitoring and reporting the costs against the delivered and realised benefits
  • Provide the necessary reports on project status to Delivery Support

Project Initiation

  • Confirm the scope of a proposed project, and clearly define the objectives of the project
  • Collate all information and produce and maintain the Project Documentation and Project Plans and agree these with associated Steering Committee
  • Ensure robust standards are in place and in line with bank standards

Project Execution and Delivery

  • Monitor the overall project progress, resolving issues, initiating corrective action and referring major issues upwards to the Programme Manager / Change Delivery Manager as appropriate
  • Co-ordinate and develop teamwork and lead the knowledge and skills transfer within the project
  • Lead the operational activities of partners
  • Ensure robust estimates are in place and in line with industry standards
  • Lead project deliverables and ensure that all project deliverables are to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the project plan and coherent with the overall project objectives and related business strategy
  • Be responsible for the Quality Assurance and the overall integrity of the project
  • Where appropriate, maintain oversight and approval on the user acceptance testing deliverables - approach, scope, sign-off criteria etc. and ensure completion of Operational Acceptance Testing activities
  • Ensure that solutions are ready to be transitioned to production, involving Technology Services throughout the project to lead service design and the release of any changes into production
  • Ensure the relevant Release Management activities are performed where appropriate including tracking software changes, linking to the accurate versions, producing documentation and procedures associated with the running, support and maintenance of any new / updated systems in the production environment
  • Connect with all partners and develop the change management/training plan for the business
  • Prepare Project Closure report and follow up on any recommendations required

Risk and Compliance

  • Maintain & monitor standards, controls, processes and solutions, to minimise business and IT risk
  • Ensure full compliance with all Group, Legal and Regulatory requirements and standards

Management Support

  • Live and support Group culture, values and behaviours
  • Positive and proactive participation within the team and active collaboration with colleagues across IT@BoI, Group Manufacturing and Group as appropriate

Essential Qualifications:

Experience

  • 3-5 years' experience operating in a Project Management role, specifically within Electronic Payments
  • Strong knowledge of Financial Services
  • Knowledge of Payment processing, Payment schemes and Regulations
  • Consistent track record in delivering complex, wide ranging projects in a timely manner
  • In-depth knowledge of project processes, software development cycle, Bank technical architecture, development, compliance, regulatory and implementation standards
  • Proven track record to engage with, and leverage, partners to deliver the project
  • Strong familiarity with quality management concepts and their application
