Description of Business Unit

The Technology Security Operations (TSO) Vulnerability, Threat and Security Engineering Team at Bank of Ireland have a remit of discovering, assessing and reporting of any potential vulnerabilities or potential threat toward Bank of Ireland.

This team currently has the following work streams:

  • Cyber-Threat Intelligence Collation, Analysis & Distribution
  • Vulnerability Identification, Assessment and Communication
  • Engineering & Technical Support for Selected Security Controls
  • Incident Response and Monitoring

Purpose of Role:

The Security Analyst will be responsible for performing Vulnerability assessments & Application Security testing using specialist tooling and interpreting results for internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Network and Application penetration tests using specialist tooling.
  • Utilize common vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools
  • Act as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) when communicating findings for internal customers where required.
  • Work as part of a penetration testing team, taking direction from Lead and executing directives in a thorough and timely fashion
  • Develop subject matter expertise in topics to include: network, database, wireless and application security assessments, and adversarial network operations
  • Research and analyse known hacker methodology, system exploits, and vulnerabilities to support methodology development and execution
  • Utilize common vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Fetac Level 7 Ordinary degree in IT security or equivalent additional experience.

Essential Experience:

  • 2+ years in IT Security Operations team or equivalent.
  • Firm understanding of Vulnerability assessment and common practices and processes.
  • Good technical knowledge of IT Systems and Controls,
  • Experience in Vulnerability discovery and assessment
  • Knowledge of technologies such as, Wintel, UNIX systems, Firewalls
  • Technical experience with Web Application Penetration Testing and understanding OWASP methodology
  • Technical experience with exploitation tools: Kali Linux, Metasploit, Burp Suite
