Division Description

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions Division provides Operations, IT Run & Change, and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners. Established in 2006, it is a key enabler of the Group's national champion ambition, and is focused on the Group's three strategic priorities to Serve Customers Brilliantly, Transform the Bank and Grow Sustainable Profits. Group Technology & Customer Solutions comprises a number of key business areas: Group Customer Origination & Fulfilment, Group Customer Services, Group Services, IT@BOI, Group Information Security, Risk Management Support and the Group Portfolio Office. These businesses are supported by HR and Finance partners

Description of business unit

Group Information Security (GIS) is a diverse, collaborative team with multiple skillsets. With global cyber threats constantly evolving, the team is critical to protecting one of the Group's most important and valuable assets: Information.

GIS not only protect the security of the Bank but also enable colleagues to develop secure ways of working and to make secure choices both in and outside of the office.

They do this through a variety of activities, including:

  • using technology to monitor existing and emerging cyber threats
  • detecting and preventing cyber attacks
  • engaging with business units to guide them in their decision making (for example when introducing new products, services and vendors to the Group)
  • explaining information security in simple terms
  • interacting with colleagues to raise the bar on security awareness so that it is at the forefront of everyone's mind.

All underpinned by guidelines, standards, policies and security controls designed to help protect Bank, employee and customer information - and a passion to keep our colleagues, communities and customers safe.

Purpose of the Role

Your job will be to support projects and programmes in delivering secure solutions for Bank of Ireland.

Key Accountabilities

Working closely with Business, Technical and Infrastructure designers you will:

a)identify, design and document key security control objectives to be met by an application/service/infrastructure/cloud service
b) identify and design appropriate& effective security controls to meet these control objectives
c) collaborate with Technical, Infrastructure and Business Design teams to create the technical artefacts which describe these security controls

  • d) act as a Security SME to your colleagues in Technology, Business and Infrastructure.
  • What is the opportunity

    You will work with market leading technology on key initiatives for Bank of Ireland. Working closely with our vendors and business teams throughout the Group,your day-to-day work willdirectly contribute to making Bank of Ireland the National Champion Bank.

    Essential Qualifications

    Minimum CISSP or GIAC GSEC;

    Essential Skills & Experience

    • Strong technical knowledge of network protocols and related technologies, and a variety of platforms;
    • Strong technical knowledge across a variety of platforms
    • Experience across a number of relevant IT Security & general IT disciplines;
    • Strong knowledge of IT Security best practice
    • Minimum 5+ years working in an IT Security discipline, with experience in security design.
    • Subject Matter Expertise in key IS areas.

    Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

    • 3rd Level qualification in Information Technology
    • Knowledge of PCI, PSD2 highly desirable
    • Good knowledge of information security and risk control frameworks such as COBiT, ISO 27001, ISO 27002 is highly desirable;
    • ISSAP, SABSA, TOGAF, or other security architecture qualification preferred;
    • Experience in security design for continuous integration pipelines in enterprise environment;
    • Experience in DevOps methodologies and practices;
    • Cloud infrastructure security including AWS & Azure;
