The Security Monitoring team within GIS Security Operations & Engineering at Bank of Ireland provides continuous monitoring and analysis of potential security incidents. The Security Monitoring Team works with other IT Security Teams across the Group to improve the organisations security posture through the detection, triage, and response to potential security issues.

Our Security Monitoring Analysts provide email security assurance across the Group to our colleagues in addition to supervising estate-wide security systems and carrying out level 1 security incident response.

Key Accountabilities

Assisting in the operation of the Bank of Ireland Security Monitoring functions such as:

  • Operating the CheckMyEmail Mailbox service and providing excellent customer service to BOI staff
  • Conducting daily estate wide security checks
  • Monitoring of estate wide security systems and services
  • Carrying out the initial phases of level 1 security incident response
  • Communicating with and assisting in the promotion of cyber security awareness to partners
  • Keeping up to date with the latest cyber security news, trends and potential threats

Additional Information:

  • This role will require scheduled participation in a shift rota (07:15-15:15, 08:00-16:00, and 10:00-18:00). A general flexibility is required regarding other occasional out-of-hours work - as necessitated by the services being delivered by GIS to the Group.

This job can be done anywhere in Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin to which travel will be required for in person teamwork. Exact frequency to be agreed with manager.

Essential Qualifications

Relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalent relevant work experience.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Understanding of existing and emerging Information Security technologies.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Problem identification and remediation focused
  • Ability to adhere to strict legal guidelines and the confidential/sensitivity of cyber security
  • Good clear communicator
  • Ability to operate under pressure
  • A structured and organised approach to work
  • Good at taking ownership of tasks/issues and treating these to completion
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with others
  • Open attitude to change

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Working knowledge of various operating systems, firewalls, VPNs, and Anti-Virus products.
  • Working knowledge of Information Security industry standards and best practices.
  • Experience of Level 1 Monitoring Operations within a Security Operations Centre (SOC).
  • SSCP or CCNA certification
  • Professional SSCP or CISSP qualification
