The Technology Security Operations (TSO) Security Monitoring Team at Bank of Ireland provides continuous monitoring and analysis of potential security incidents. The Security Monitoring Team works with other IT Security Teams across the Group to improve the organisations security posture through the detection, triage, and response to potential security issues.

Purpose of the role:

The Technology Security Operations (TSO) Security Monitoring Team at Bank of Ireland provides continuous monitoring and analysis of potential security incidents. The Security Monitoring Team works with other IT Security Teams across the Group to improve the organisations security posture through the detection, triage, and response to potential security issues.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the operation of the Bank of Ireland Security Monitoring functions such as:
  • Operate the Email Mailbox service and providing excellent customer service to BOI staff members
  • Conduct daily estate wide security web traffic checks
  • Monitor estate wide security systems and services
  • Carry out the initial phases of level 1 security incident response - including identification, triage, analysis, remediation, recovery and closure
  • Communicate with and assisting in the promotion of cyber security awareness to stakeholders
  • Keep abreast of cyber security news, trends and potential threats

Additional Information:

This role will require scheduled participation in a shift rota. Shift arrangement is currently a weekly rotating shift (07:15-15:15, 09:00-17:00, and 11:15-19:15). A general flexibility is required regarding other occasional out-of-hours work - as necessitated by the services being delivered by TSO to the Group.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of Level 1 Monitoring Operations within a Security Operations Centre (SOC).
  • Working knowledge of multiple operating systems, firewalls, VPN`s, and Anti-Virus products.
  • Working knowledge of Information Security industry standards and best practices.
  • Understanding of existing and emerging Information Security technologies.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Problem identification and remediation focused
  • Ability to adhere to strict legal guidelines and the confidential/sensitivity of cyber security
  • Good clear communicator
  • Ability to operate under pressure
  • A structured and organised approach to work
  • Good at identifying, mentoring and developing talent within your team
  • Good at taking ownership of tasks/issues and treating these to completion
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with others
  • Open attitude to change

Essential Qualifications:

  • Leaving certificate - minimum of 5 passes (grade D or above) at Ordinary Level, which must includeEnglish and Maths, or equivalent or superseding qualification

Desirable:

  • Minimum of Fetac Level 7 Ordinary degree in IT security or equivalent additional experience.
  • Professional qualifications such as CISSP, GCIH, ECIH or CCNA are desirable
