Group Internal Audit is on a journey towards a digital future, where automation, technology and data will act as key enablers to both what we do, and how we do it. The Data Science & Digital function within GIA is responsible for the development and execution of GIA's digital strategy and digital transformation roadmap (DTR), to enable GIA to embed technology, data science and automation techniques at the heart of its operating model.

This is an individual contributor role to develop data science, management information and automation solutions, and support the enhancement of GIA's digital capability and technology/tooling. You will contribute towards GIA's multi-year digital strategy, through the development of data analysis and reporting solutions, automation and enhancement of key business processes and creation and embedding of 'smart processes. You will also support the rollout of key training initiatives across the function, utilising Agile principles and methodologies, designed to increase our overall level of data fluency and capability across GIA.
Complete exploratory analysis projects and build data science solutions for senior management to drive business insights and proactive risk management across the Group
Develop and implement solutions to automate and optimise business processes to allow colleagues to focus on the best use of their time
Assist in developing GIA's digital capability and optimising the technology and tooling landscape
Contribute towards the Digital strategy and the wider Data Science & Digital function through the identification of new value add data exploitation and continuous improvement opportunities
Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams within Group Internal Audit, and across the wider Group to refine recommendations and develop next best action plans for risk management
Contribute to a creative culture centred on an agile environment, value prioritisation and design thinking
You will work as part of a dynamic and ambitious team and be a driving force behind digital transformation in GIA. You will gain significant exposure to hypothesis testing, exploratory analysis, automation, machine learning and visualisation, as well as developing training, transformation and technology skills.
This is a high visibility role within division and a great opportunity for you to make a difference to our colleagues, customers and stakeholders, through assisting GIA in achieving its strategic digital vision.
Experience in utilising data as an enabler of transformation through one of more of the following activities: exploratory analysis, hypothesis testing, data visualisation and/or machine learning
Experience in leveraging SQL and/or Python to acquire, transform and extract insights from large scale complex datasets
High level of discretion, capable of dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information
Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work on own initiative
Solid attention to detail and high levels of accuracy and a strong team ethic and flexible approach in order to meet ambitious goals and deadlines
Knowledge of the Cloudera Hadoop platform, and associated analytical tools (i.e. pySpark)
Experience in the end to end development of data science solutions in a real-world business environment would be advantageous but not essential
