Purpose of the Role

The Core Banking Systems Programme (CBSP) is a large IT enabled business transformation impacting change across all areas of our business. This role is for a dynamic senior individual with experience in large scale change in a fast moving and complex business environment.

The role will ensure delivery on key programmes of work in CBSP. In this role you will have superior programme and stakeholder management skills and will work closely with Retail, Technology, Operations and Product partners across the Group to manage and co-ordinate all elements of the technical delivery; successfully embedding the new or changed application(s) within the technology and operational landscape in a fully compliant manner.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive and deliver a challenging & complex portfolio of mission critical programmes of work, enabling the digital transformation of the Bank to deliver commercial and operational advantage.
  • The successful and timely delivery of all project phases from early concept through to BAU transition. Lead proposals and report progress to the Executive Team on key programmes of work.
  • Lead the optimal execution of Bank and partner activities and the utilisation of available resources, technologies and systems to increase efficiency / affordability's and deliver projects in line with internal and customer defined requirements
  • Create, review and maintain detailed program and project plans with the involvement of all relevant parties.
  • To proactively monitor overall program and project progress, resolving risks and issues and initiating corrective action plans and escalating as appropriate.
  • To act as the central point of liaison, communications and coordination between technical teams and other stakeholders throughout the change process.
  • To actively manage scope changes impacting plans and ensure the timely communication to key stakeholders of any risks or changes.
  • To demonstrate knowledge of the underlying technology stack and supported/related business area.
  • To provide analytical, technical, business and management expertise to the group.
  • To manage programme/project financials, including estimates and spend.
  • To build and maintain effective relationships with partners across Retail, Technology, Operations and Product.
  • Provide thought leadership and provide best practice insight; leveraging our multiple vendor/partner framework to adapt methods and practices to deliver successfully.
  • Ensure team discharge risk responsibilities

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 8 Qualification
  • Project management certification such as Prince2, PMP.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A proven track record of delivering business value from IT as a senior technical project manager / Technical Programme Manager, system implementation, system selection and large scale change management.
  • Experience of delivering complex technical projects involving multiple stakeholders with significant amounts of uncertainty. Solid experience of working closely with onshore/nearshore/offshore teams and clients
  • Have a proven ability to take a 'big picture' delivery and project management view as well as work at a detailed level across a broad range of contract types and engagement approaches.
  • Having a track record of delivery within a number of large scale IT transformation programmes, taking ownership of delivery across internal client teams
  • Have experience in seeking the alignment of business and IT, operating across organisational and technology silos to drive common approaches, delivering sustainable, agile and re-usable solutions
  • Accreditation and practitioner experience of a range of Project Management approaches including PRINCE II, PMI, Agile, etc.
  • Have a Programme and Project Management track record with a blue chip consulting or systems integration firm or as an IT Senior Manager within a leading Enterprise/Organisation
  • Be comfortable working with client executives and senior management
  • Experience implementing and delivering high-end technical projects and solutions in the Financial Services sector (core banking, insurance, fintech, investment banking).
  • Experience with released based application development
  • Experience in Waterfall and Agile methodologies
