Description of the business unit

Marketing Communications sits within the Customer Experience department for our UK Mortgages business. We manage communications for our customers and intermediaries, and support our partner the Post Office. We follow agile and flexible working methods, and support each other to deliver compelling communications to enable our customers, colleagues and communities to thrive. This includes mortgage acquisition and retention campaigns, proposition launches, customer lifetime value activity and partner relationship management.

Purpose of the role

Our team provide communications subject matter expertise to the business. We are responsible for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of communications activity to support all areas of UK mortgages.

What is the opportunity?

You will work in a dynamic and flexible agile team to deliver excellent communications solutions. Working closely with our colleagues in Sales, Product and Proposition, you'll formulate, agree and implement communications initiatives and activity to meet our annual acquisition and retention targets.

Key accountabilities

  • Deliver new business and retention marketing communications that contribute to the delivery of UK Mortgages' annual operating plan. Develop, own, deliver and evaluate all activity you are responsible for managing.
  • Ensure all marketing communications activities are delivered on time, on brief, on budget and within brand guidelines - acting as brand guardian.
  • Ensure all communications materials produced have been through the agreed process and procedures and ensure work is error free and compliant.
  • Ensure effective communication of marketing plans, campaigns, proposition launches and brand initiatives to internal and external stakeholders (to Executive Level)
  • Essential Skills and Experience
  • Significant marketing experience
  • Proven track record of campaign management, including direct and digital marketing experience
  • Highly developed numerical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational, time management, prioritising and planning skills
  • Ability to make decisions without escalation.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Has a degree or a recognised marketing qualification
  • Financial services experience
  • Good interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Copywriting experience
  • Budget planning experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience of line management; coaching and mentoring
  • Digital experience - working with content management systems and email marketing systems
