Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Head of Cyber Strategy and Architecture, theSenior Cyber Security Research Specialist is tasked with acquiring, assessing and disseminating cyber security information and knowledge from across our partners, advisors and the public domain. The CSR specialist will help to ensure the Group Information Security (GIS) leadership team are fully appraised on new and emergent insights across technology, threats, policy, regulation and innovation. The CSR specialist will be tasked with establishing a knowledge management system for GIS.

Key Accountabilities

  • Stay current on the latest trends and developments in cyber security and cyber risk management
  • Research and analyse topics with business or technical potential and work with the team to develop strategic recommendations or operational improvements
  • Develop and deliver periodic reports and recommendations to senior management
  • Identify the catalogue of information sources that inform cyber strategy and operations
  • Work with key advisors to Bank of Ireland on Cyber Security information acquisition
  • Undertake specific research projects to formulate the bank's position on key topics.
  • Develops a model for standardised reporting of Cyber insights and issues
  • Develops concept papers, technical white papers, and related documentation detailing cyber security practices for implementation throughout BOI
  • Conducts research that focuses on rapidly emerging cyber threats and cyber adversaries
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to facilitate cyber SA and information sharing

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Can effectively analyse and determine the key insights from a diverse set of information sources across multiple cyber security and cyber risk information sources
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Experienced at targeting communications to specific audiences
  • Collaborative team player, with ability to work effectively with people at all levels in the organisation
  • Experienced in 'networking' with industry groups, commercial entities and government agencies to source insights
  • Excellent problem-solving ability, analytical and comfortable quantitatively
  • Good time-management skills and a flexible attitude, with ability to meet tight deadlines and handle simultaneous work streams
