Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of high quality data management solutions and capabilities across the group.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implements and supports technical capabilities, repeatable processes, and best practices to support data management
  • Coordinate communication with testing services end user and expectations management
  • Identify and implement optimization for making the data creation process efficient and faster.
  • Work directly with the Test Data Analyst or test data requester on understanding and processing the test data requests.
  • Allocate and manage test data on all platforms using TDM tools.
  • Automate test data refresh and creation processes.
  • Develops test data management solutions, plans and strategies for test data lifecycle
  • Creates reports for management on Test Data Management usability and metrics (Powerpoint, Excel etc)
  • Performance tuning of Test Data Provisioning setup
  • High level knowledge of Test Data Automation (Self Service provisioning of Test Data)
  • Management of and including test data discovery, analysis, generation, masking, sub setting, validation, defect resolution, refresh, archival, and purge
  • Ensures implemented solutions meet data security and compliance controls
  • Partners with project development and quality assurance teams to determine test data requirements, assess test scenarios, and determine the appropriate set of TDM Capabilities
  • Collaborates with various IS teams to provision test data in defined environments
  • Participates and contributes to TDM architecture, governance, design, and planning sessions
  • Develops Data obfuscation algorithm/rule to scramble sensitive data and maintain data consistency.
  • Interacts with technical teams to stay involved and abreast of current and emerging technologies in TDM

Essential Skills & Experience

The IT Senior Data Manager is a level-3 role requiring skills and experience in:

  • Experience managing test data including creation and mining using data management tools
  • Proven experience of testing complex user interfaces
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following TDM tools: TestBench, Informatica Test Data Management or similar enterprise tools.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following Technologies: Database systems such as Oracle, SQLServer, DB2, IBM AS/400 iSeries.
  • Quality assurance testing, including ability to write and execute test scripts.
  • Experience with data masking, sub setting, and synthetic data generation technologies
  • Experience with IT process automation and integration.
  • Successful internal candidates will have spent one year or more on their current team.
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, data flow diagrams and database design development
  • Good understanding of various database technologies (DB2, Teradata, Oracle 10g/11g, SQL server, Big data/Hadoop)
  • Good understanding of data masking/scrubbing/obfuscation techniques
  • Hands-on experience with data archival.
  • Strong database experience in iSeries, Oracle, DB2 or SQL Server
  • Hands-on experience with an ETL or a test data management tool
  • Understanding of the following areas
    • Data management concepts and techniques
    • Data archival, sub setting, masking, synthetic data generation, shuffling, etc.
    • Testing methods and approaches
    • Data modelling concepts
    • Information security and compliance concepts such as PII, PCI, HIPAA, SOX
    • Development methodologies, such as agile, devops and/or waterfall
    • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Knowledge of database tools and utilities
    • Proven ability to work independently and in conjunction with a team
    • Strong technical documentation and writing skills
    • Must have strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation
    • Must have high integrity, accountability, a positive attitude and strong work ethic
    • Must have strong interpersonal skills, able to work with people at various technical and management levels
