Description of business unit

The Markets & Treasury division is responsible for managing the Group's leading treasury services for Retail, Corporate and Institutional customers in Ireland with niche businesses in the UK and US. The Division looks after the management of funding, liquidity, capital, and structural market risks to ensure the Group's balance sheet is managed appropriately & to support its growth ambitions. M&T supports the Group purpose of enabling customers, colleagues and communities to thrive, in particular, by;

Helping customers and colleagues to transact and navigate in financial markets.

Facilitating growth in sustainable profits by optimising the Group balance sheet.

Purpose of the Role

To identify, structure and execute financial market opportunities to optimise the Group'scapital stack.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain the Group's capital structure to ensure optimum profile, including new issuance, retirement of existing capital and management of buyback initiatives
  • Proactively support the design and execution of required capital market instruments (MREL senior debt, subordinated debt and securitisations)
  • Maintain close relationships with external counterparties to identify emerging/ best practice capital optimisation ideas
  • Engage with cross-functional colleagues to identify opportunities to develop new products and growing existing business lines
  • Support investor marketing of various transactions as required
  • Input on an ad-hoc basis in relation to matters including M&A activity, GIC/other investment proposals, new business ventures, portfolio management strategy, year-end reporting

  • Knowledge of the operations and strategies of the various Group businesses
  • An understanding of the drivers of capital requirements, including credit risk
  • Knowledge of regulatory capital requirements, and wider knowledge to include accounting, legal, capital instruments, treasury products etc

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally leading a team of SMEs operating at pace in a complex regulated environment, and to manage multiple demands effectively and in an agile manner
  • Excellent communicator and influencer with extensive experienceworking withother stakeholders
  • Experience of capital management in the treasury or finance area of a financial institution
  • Financial market expertise
  • Ability to represent the Group with significant investors
