Division Description

Property Finance Group ("PFG") is part of Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking & manages the Bank's largest and most complex real estate relationships & transactions. Property Finance Group, manages a loan book of €4bn covers all sectors of the property market, both development and investment, together with Corporate lending to large and listed property companies across Ireland and London

PFG is responsible for origination & business development from existing and new customers. Customer service, robust & proactive portfolio management is key.

Purpose of the Role

Roles arewith a credit and sales focus comprising day-to-day credit management of new proposals &existingtransactions.Preparation of credit applications, documentation negotiation and execution, and general risk management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Portfolio Management:Manage relationships in line with best practice.
  • Support the business agenda displaying highest standards of customer-centric behaviours/credit management
  • Accurate MI returns- all information accurately recorded
  • Origination & Market Presence:Identifying/assessing new business opportunities in line with Groups risk appetite
  • Develop quality relationships with customers/stakeholders.
  • Assist/support Team Director with stretching financial targets.
  • Managing People:Mentor/coach more junior colleagues.
  • Relationship Building:Developing working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders/customers/banks/professional advisers
  • Workflow & Reporting:Pro-actively manage your workflow
  • Risk Management:On-going/proactive & robust review of your portfolio. Drafting of credit applications- "right first time" approach
  • Negotiate loan terms/documentation
  • Implementing internal controls and standards

Essential Qualifications

  • 7+ years financial and commercial experience,with previous experience in Real Estate &a strong track record in development finance.
  • Graduate or other related professional qualification

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Understanding of credit risk with analytical and numerical skills
  • Understanding ofGroups credit policy/processes/systems/compliance requirements
  • Self-motivated team player with a pro-active/flexible approach
  • Good communication/presentation/interpersonal skills
  • Personal credibility both internally and externally
  • Ability to work with/network successfully with Group colleagues/key partners
  • Ability to manage competing priorities to tight deadlines including specific projects or other initiatives
  • Ability to coach more junior colleagues.
  • Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Proven analytical and commercial acumen in complex finance arena.
  • Proven credit evaluation skills for both recourse and non-recourse lending to balance sheets.
  • Excellent credit writing skills.
  • Influencing & negotiation skills.
  • Written & verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify sales opportunities / selling skills.
  • Knowledge of law and compliance relating to banking and finance.
  • Knowledge or accounting and interpretation of accounts.
  • Networking skills.
