Division Description

Led by the recently appointed Chief Marketing Officer, we are creating Group Marketing function which will develop a strong brand for Bank of Ireland, shaping and delivering a differentiated position for the Bank in the markets in which we operate. This will enable us to shape and deliver on our purpose to enable customers, colleagues and communities to thrive and to build the National Champion Bank in Ireland. The Group Marketing function will be underpinned by the following strategic imperatives designed to transform the Bank of Ireland brand: Customer planning across business under one group brand strategy and agreed brand pillar priorities, Deep brand & customer insight, Consistent & compelling customer communication across all touchpoints, Data driven marketing, Customer experience insight & innovation design, Integrated Technology transformation, Robust Marketing spend effectiveness & governance.

Description of business unit

The Group Customer Analytics team sits within the Group Marketing function and supports our customers, colleagues and partners across Ireland, UK and Internationally.

In a changing market environment,where customer expectations continue to grow and there is an increasing demand for personalised customer experiences, Customer Analytics is leading the charge to enable and deliver this personalised experience through data analytics and the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence. To deliver on this vision the Customer Analytics team leverage internal and external data and apply data analytics, machine learning and visualisation techniques to maximise the value of this data and deliver positive outcomes for our customers and our business. The complex challenges the team faces means there is considerable opportunity for team members to grow and develop both their technical and non-technical skills to achieve their full potential at Bank of Ireland.

Purpose of the Role

The Senior Marketing Effectiveness Manager will play a key role as the lead of the Marketing Effectiveness Team. The individual will act as the senior member of a team tasked with optimising marketing spend and leveraging actionable insights to drive growth. The individual will have a performance mind-set and will be someone who can identify and communicate opportunities for growth. The role will require an individual with strong leadership skills and a proven track record of driving change through data and analytics.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead a team of data analysts and data scientists working to optimise the return on investment from marketing spend.
  • Drive improved marketing performance by translating insights into actions and following through to ensure change is delivered and measured.
  • Develop an automated performance management framework to enable channel and product owners to analyse business performance and identify commercial trends.
  • Translate business opportunities and challenges into Analytical problems and follow through to provide actionable insights and recommendations with accurate measurement of the impact.
  • Serve as a leader and mentor to your team, ensuring technical and non-technical training needs are identified and solved for and the existing skills are leveraged optimally to solve business problems.
  • Create a strong culture within your team to attract and retain top talent.
  • Play a leadership role in building the brand of Customer Analytics internally and externally by demonstrating the value Customer Analytics delivers for our Customers.
  • Set the standard for high quality and impactful output across the team.

What is the opportunity

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of data analysts and data scientists responsible for driving increased performance across our key product lines and customer segments.

This individual will be responsible for bringing expertise in marketing analytics including for example, attribution and market mix modelling. The individual will also lead the marketing trading performance management to deliver increased commercial and business outcomes.

This is a high visibility role within the team and a great opportunity to make a difference to our customers. This a front facing role with lots of exposure to the CMO leadership team, key business units and senior stakeholders across the Group.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelors in Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Analytics, Digital Marketing or equivalent quantitative field.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • At least 7 years analytics experience working in Analytics/Data Science, with at least 2 years' experience in people management.
  • Experience in Marketing Analytics working in a commercial marketing or trading performance role would be particularly advantageous.
  • A thorough knowledge of marketing attribution modelling and market mix modelling.
  • A strong understanding of marketing engagement channels and digital marketing is a must.
  • Experience with web analytics (Google Analytics and Google Big Query).
  • A highly motivated and driven individual looking to make a major contribution to the success of analytics within the Bank of Ireland Group.
  • An individual with a commercial mind-set who is driven by delivering measurable value from Analytics.
  • Leverage exceptional attention to detail to deliver impactful results and insights.
  • Bachelors in Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Analytics, Digital Marketing or equivalent quantitative field.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Teradata, Hue, Cloudera or similar big data technologies.
  • MSc in Statistics, Digital Marketing, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Analytics or equivalent quantitative field.
  • Experience with customer journey analytics.
