Division Description

Group Risk provides strong independent oversight and management of the Group's credit, market and operational risk strategies. We have responsibility for credit risk management information, credit & market risk underwriting as well as strategic oversight and management of challenged portfolios. The purpose of the Division is to maintain a robust risk culture, in support of the Group's strategic goals, by ensuring that the appropriate structures, systems, policies and controls are in place to provide effective management of credit, market and operational risk. In delivering these objectives we aim to support the Group in optimising returns over the longer term on the Group's risk assets through robust asset selection and management of risk.

Description of business unit

Decision Science is responsible for management information, regulatory returns, risk model development and automated decision strategies across a broad range of credit portfolios. Our customers span all corners of the Group including Group Risk, Retail Ireland, Retail UK, Finance and Corporate Banking. We are a specialist unit with a broad skillset covering risk management, data mining, statistical analysis, regulation and I.T.

Decision Science is now part of an agile workforce, and offers flexible working options such as working from home on certain days, laptop and a newly designed agile workspace for enhanced collaboration and innovation within the Bank.

Purpose of the Role

The Senior Analyst position provides a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic analytics unit within the Group Risk function. The role will afford a high level of exposure to internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will take a lead role in delivering key management and regulatory information for our mortgage portfolios, addressing ad hoc analytical requests as they arise, and regularly interacting with multiple business units. Opportunities to develop management skills and to introduce new risk measurement techniques will be provided.

Key Accountabilities

  • Scheduling, production and validation of a broad range of credit risk MI, regulatory returns and financial reports.
  • Design and development of dashboards, reports and analysis packs including automated and efficient processes for production.
  • Proactive engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders to review and refine the reporting suite whilst respond to evolving business needs.
  • Production of accurate and insightful analysis in response to ad-hoc reporting and data analysis requests.
  • Support the development and training of junior members of the team.
  • Ensuring that all work is carried out in compliance with the Regulators requirements.

Essential Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical skills supported by a third Level qualification in mathematics, statistics or other numerical discipline.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Excellent analytical skills supported by a third level qualification in mathematics, statistics or other numerical discipline.
  • Practical experience using statistical / data visualization tools such as SAS and Tableau.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into clear and concise reports and visualisations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver within demanding timeframes.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Excellent organisational / project management skills
  • Expertise in presenting results of analysis to business stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing, coaching or mentoring.
  • Previous experience in credit risk or data analytics.
