About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Decision Science department within one of Europe`s oldest and most established Banks.

Within Decision Science we use advanced analytical and statistical techniques to optimise our decisioning models & strategies throughout the Retail portfolios (in RoI & UK) and ensure we make the best decisions for the Bank and our customers.

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Senior Analyst to join our Unsecured Modelling Team in Bristol, offering an opportunity to work on a wide and varied range of portfolios (Credit Cards, Loans and Overdrafts) across two jurisdictions (RoI and UK).

Who are we?

Credit Risk decisioning models and strategies are used extensively throughout the Bank of Ireland Retail Divisions across both RoI & UK. Each Retail Division includes Mortgages, Credit Cards, Motor Finance, Loans and Current Accounts & Overdrafts. Within RoI we lend through the Bank of Ireland brand, whilst in the UK we also lend through our partnership brands such as Post Office and AA.

Decisioning models and strategies are very important tools for the Retail divisions to help achieve their goals and ensure the right decisions are made for our customers. They are used to drive lending decisions, optimise account management practices, determine Pillar I Regulatory capital requirements and quantify `on-book` & `off-book` credit risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the scoping, design, development, validation and implementation of new decisioning models & strategies (e.g. application scorecards and associated cut-offs)
  • Remediation of existing decisioning models and strategies where there are identified areas for improvement
  • Quantify the impact of policy, product, economic and regulatory changes on models & strategies
  • Engage with senior Business & Credit representatives throughout the development process & ensure optimal understanding and use of the models
  • Production of accurate, timely and relevant ad-hoc analytics relating to models and strategies

Essential Key Requirements

  • Strong degree with a statistical, mathematical or numerical focus
  • 1 year experience working within a Credit Risk or Modelling environment
  • Practical experience of statistical analysis packages including SAS
  • Experience of working with large datasets in an accurate, diligent and critical manner
  • Strong MS Office Skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good planning, organisational and time management skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to an audience with a range of technical backgrounds
  • Highly organised, enthused and energetic - with drive and motivation to achieve agreed goals
