The UK Prudential Risk team support the UK Chief Risk Officer in ensuring effective risk management across the business and in meeting regulatory requirements for the areas of treasury risk,capital and model risk.

Purpose of the role:

The Senior Treasury Risk Manager is responsible for supporting the CRO in meeting business and regulatory requirements specifically in the area of treasury risk, namely market risk.

Key Responsbilities:

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of effective risk management frameworks in the management of market risk.
  • Analysis, interpretation and dissemination of upstream risk developments from regulatory and other international bodies (PRA, Basel Committee, European Union, EBA etc.).
  • Lead annual update of the Firm`s Market Risk Policy and Market Risk Appetite, including the review of appropriate associated thresholds.
  • Responsible for leading the review, monitoring and reporting of market risk positions, including stress testing and scenarioanalysis.
  • Research and propose measurement methodology enhancements arising from regulatory developments.
  • Preparation and review of briefings, project updates, committee papers and other relevant information and presentation to UK Chief Risk Officer, Senior Management Team, Risk Committees and relevant regulatory authorities.
  • Responsible for the leading the implementation and execution of adhoc risk reviews of UK Treasury andbusiness areas to ensure appropriate risk mitigation and management in line with risk policies.
  • Responsible for the delivery of Treasury Risk projects, as required.
  • Review and challenge of Treasury and Business activity and plans, including strategic plans.
  • Lead review and challenge of all market risk Related Regulatory Returns ensuring reporting in line with Regulatory guidance.
  • Development and maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders including BOIUK Treasury, UK Finance, Group Market Risk and Group Treasury.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Minimal 5 years banking experience with Treasury Risk experience.
  • Sound knowledge of the key Treasury Risk metrics.Sound understanding of the Treasury Risk Regulatory framework.
  • Sound understanding of Treasury Risk management approaches, including Treasury Risk measurement techniques, MI and reporting framework.
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Well developed influencing and networking skills and credibility to work effectively with wider Risk and Business teams.
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, knowledge of Access, VBA, and SAS a strong plus in order to aggregate and effectively present large volumes of data.

Essential qualifications:

  • Relevant degree with a strong academic background required. Appropriate masters degreee or professional qualification a plus (CFA, FRM, ACT).
