Description of business unit

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions division provides Technology Services & Solutions, IT Change, Payments and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners.

Purpose of the Role

The Group Technology & Customer Solutions division provides IT Run & Change, Payments and other services to the Bank of Ireland Group, through internal capability as well as management of external vendors and outsourcing partners.

Reporting directly to the head of Strategy & Transformation, and working very closely with colleagues in Group HR, the GTCS Workforce Manager will play a vital role in embedding the Group capability strategy in GTCS, while also developing an appropriate approach for IT specific components (e.g. technical development capabilities).

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure that the GTCS operating model remains fit-for-purpose to deliver on the Group strategy
  • Act as the key point of contact between GTCS and Group HR to ensure that the Group Capability strategy is appropriately embedded in GTCS
  • Support Group HR to develop an IT workforce strategy that defines and embed the capabilities underpinning the People Strategy and Career Paths across the function.
  • As part of the workforce planning strategy, develop a defined skills development/acquisition plan with an associated recruitment and sourcing framework to meet needs over the next 3-5 years.
  • Contribute research, analysis and ideas related to people and workforce strategy to ensure that organisational development initiatives are appropriately integrated and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop a clear resourcing strategy that enables IT strategy and the skill/capability support required to deliver it
  • Contribute to the Learning and Development strategy for Change and IT, aligned to defined career paths and learning continuums; including uplift on senior leader capability
  • Work with HR Business Partners to address critical roles where succession is weak and identify and implement development priorities to address internal movement/exit of specialist skills.
  • Build a strong effective working relationship with communications colleagues across the organisation.

Essential Qualifications

  • Extensive previous experience in IT workforce management, ideally within financial services.
  • Background in managing organisation design projects, including development of detailed designed deliverables and associated implementation plans
  • Experience of, and commitment to, continuous organisational improvement and the ability to act as a change agent
  • Good knowledge of capability sourcing and management
  • Worked in and exposed to senior level (C-suite) issues, projects and planning, highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Excellent writing, oral and presentation skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
  • Problem solving and root cause identification skills
  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organisation
